Critterfixer Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Good morning, Accountables! Not much going on here, yet. But I've got Monday's housekeeping to do. That ought to keep me busy for a while. I have to work tomorrow, therefore the push to get the housework done today. I also need to sit down and write about 2000 words today. I had better get moving. 5 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I got 90% of the first week of 9th grade planned and set up yesterday. What I have left are two subjects where I need to pull together materials. One of those is Japanese. I'm having fun getting out my old materials from when I taught it for money. 4 Quote
Tawlas Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Well, three out of four kids are gone again, but the one that is left has a bit of catching up to do. So far so good. She's gotten her independent stuff done, and we've done math, spelling and reading together. She's asked to do a chalk pastel youtube video and I'll probalby do a bit of writing with her later on as well. I need to order her next level of CLE math but I may have run out of money on her card! I'll figure it out, pretty sure she'll need it by Christmas. A bit of tweaking and set up to do before we "start for real" once the other kids are back again. 4 Quote
Tawlas Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Critter, a question if you don't mind. Well, really, it's for anyone who uses middle grade CLE math. Do you get the Teacher's manuals? I really only use them for quick and easy marking, not for teaching or the extra samples or even really the extra practice pages. . . Well, maybe the extra practice pages. My question is, do you just order the answer sheets, or the whole Teacher's Manual? Whichever one you chose, why did you choose it? TIA :-) 2 Quote

Critterfixer Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 Tawlas, I got the teacher's manuals because it was just as easy as anything else, I guess. I like having all the work shown in the answer key, and the teacher's manual has that, and a few tips in case a child is having trouble. I might not use it, but I like having it all there. And if you are looking for high fantasy for your ds9--take a look at Terry Brooks. The Shannara series is good, but it's been a while since I went through it. It's very much a Tolkien influenced book, but I have to credit this author for first making me want to write fantasy. 4 Quote
Sahamamama Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Critter, a question if you don't mind. Well, really, it's for anyone who uses middle grade CLE math. Do you get the Teacher's manuals? My question is, do you just order the answer sheets, or the whole Teacher's Manual? Whichever one you chose, why did you choose it? TIA :-) We used 409 through 510 last year for 5th (skipped 501). We're using 602 through ??? (however far she gets, as she wants to accelerate) this year for 6th. I do purchase the Teacher Manual, but now that you've asked the question, I'm not sure why.  In thinking about this a bit more, I do sometimes use the extra "board work" problems to teach (or reteach) a new concept (on a small whiteboard). Sometimes, the notes on "teaching the lesson" are helpful, and I usually just read them aloud, straight out of the manual. It isn't that the concept is new to me, or I can't put it into my own words, but since the words are already there, why not use them? But, so far, my three girls just "get math" most of the time. At this point, they don't seem to need a lot of hand-holding with math. They must get that from their father's side. :blushing: One thing you might want to consider if you do decide to go with Answer Keys only -- will you miss having a copy of your student's lesson in front of you? I was annoyed and disappointed last month to find that the TMs for LA do not have copies of the student pages, and the answer keys only have the answers. This makes it harder to move my students through their lessons, since I have to constantly ask, "What do you have on your page?" (or stand behind them the entire time). I ended up ordering my own set of student books, one for LA 600 and one for LA 500. Of course, this was extra money and shipping. I did hear that CLE plans for future (revised) editions of the LA TMs to have copies of the student pages, but these will come out "behind" the trajectory for my kids. Oh, well. HTH. 4 Quote
MrsRobinson Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Productive day so far but nothing to do with school work! Deep cleaned my bedroom, swept/mopped/vacuumed whole house. The laundry is going. Dd did her piano lesson and I set up for someone to come mow the yard. Dh is in no shape to do it and our mower is so finicky, I don't want to bother with it. We are at ds's allergy shot now. We should be in shape for a solid school day when we get home. Still to do: -read aloud -morning meeting (in the afternoon, ha!) -Phonics lesson 5 for ds -math lesson 6 for ds -spelling day 2 for dd -something fun for writing for dd -math review lesson for dd -something fun for science for both. I'll probably just do a quick kitchen science thing. I sound really un-prepared don't I? Haha! Actually, now that I think about it, dh has another dr appointment this afternoon so we will probably have to do some car schooling to get it all done. I would like to go to the library sometime today too. Maybe while the baby and dh are napping, I can take the big kids. Have a great day everyone! 4 Quote
Tawlas Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I just remembered that DD6 has a speech therapy appointment. I cancelled it. I am just not feeling up to driving up there, sitting with the other two kids for an hour and then driving back. I made the bank run...I am done for the day. Good for you for calling it in. Gotta do whatya gotta do! Another easy day here with only one kid. Still have some spelling, writing and reading to do, but math and independent stuff is done. Got the forms for her assessment filled out. Reading the odyssey like mad. It's suprisingly engaging. I've procrastinated on this for quite awhile. I thought it would be tough slogging. 3 Quote
JustEm Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 We took last week off because we were at the beach and this week I'm waiting impatiently for our math books to get here. We will continue with super light work while I organize/declutter the house. Next week we start back at a normal routine. This week the main focus will be each kid reading to me daily, working with ds3 on letter and number recognition, and doing religious Ed with them all especially oldest as he is preparing for his first Communion 4 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Today was dd's first day of homeschool high school. We celebrated by going to the dentist and Red Robin. ;) Today has gone really well. She's gotten 100% in Alg. 1 and Logic assignments. Granted, they are easy first assignments but it is so nice to start out so strong since she's battled learning problems for a long time. She also did World Geography, Literature and Grammar. She kept checking in with me on Literature which was ok, of course. It is not an independent subject for her and she doesn't have confidence in her answers. We did grammar together. Last night I made cards sort of like Winston Grammar cards to go along with our Analytical grammar book. That actually helped a lot. We will not do Japanese or Biology this week because materials have not come in yet. 5 Quote
Critterfixer Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 I worked. School tomorrow. 4 Quote
Critterfixer Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 Glad everything was okay with his eye! That sounded scary. I'm not sure what we will be doing today. Both boys now have my cold, and one of them is already complaining about being tried. I know what he means. The thing wiped me out, too. So we'll get breakfast (boys will cook) and see what happens after that. 3 Quote
Tawlas Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Morning ladies. My last student leaves me today to go south to visit an auntie and get her psych ed test tomorrow. So I'm switching over the boys clothes to fall, vacuuming the basement, making cottage cheese and maybe Queso Blanco, and cooking up a boxful of pears for pear sauce. And reading the Odyssey. Haha. How many things do you think I actually get done today?! FYI, I ordered DD9's CLE 500 with the first Teacher's Manual (501-505) That I could fit into her budget for now (She gets a loaded credit card that is refilled each trimester). By the time she gets into the second half of the program, the cards will be reloaded and I'll need to order ds9's next level :) You guys are right. Having the whole student page is wonderful, I never really thought about how the answer key would be formatted. Plus, I do on occasion use the extra practice sheets or alternate quizzes etc. Glad I asked and was made to think about this! 5 Quote
Sahamamama Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Monday 9/12 We got up and did our regular morning routine -- exercise (me), breakfast, rabbits, chores, and clean up. Then we packed a picnic and headed out to the lake (it's actually a reservoir). The girls and I really, really needed an outdoor day, after this extremely hot and humid summer. We had felt too closed in, but the weather yesterday was outstanding. And we had done school work on Saturday, which was hot and sticky, so we didn't feel any guilt, LOL. We all just played all day. It was nice. It reset our Connected with Nature Button. A good day. Tuesday 9/13 So far today we have done most of our regular morning routine -- exercise (me), breakfast, rabbits, chores, and clean up. I just need to throw in a load of laundry, and we'll be good to go. The girls are working on their independent stuff... no, scratch that, they are screaming about a bug in the homeschool room. Okay, it was just a cricket, crisis resolved. They can handle crickets, no problem, but we have had some assassin bugs and wasps in the house lately, so we're all jumpy. They are now NOT doing independent work. They are examining the cricket under the magnifier. :) We have our usual Tutor Time lined up after Independent Work -- Math, Composition, Grammar, French, Reading Check-In. Then a long afternoon of Science, which I'm looking forward to. Then maybe a nap or quiet time? They will say, "We don't need it," and I will say, "I know, but you needing it is not the point." I think we all need time to read and be alone, KWIM? So go find your little corner of the world and curl up with a book or your crochet stuff or your sketch book and be happy there. And then we'll do an evening read aloud = finish By the Shores of Silver Lake. This is my least favorite book in the whole Little House series. I find myself repeatedly irritated with Pa, more than usual. I'm sure this is coming across in my reading. Well, of course it is, because I come right out and say how annoyed I am at his decisions and how they impact his family. And then we talk about it, so I suppose there is merit in that. But... :cursing: . 4 Quote
Critterfixer Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 After a morning of accidents and almost injuries, I have decided that we are better off doing very little of anything today. MrsRobinson Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Happysmileylady - I liked your post reflexively because I like all the posts. Sort of like saying, "good to hear from you." But then I realized the post was only crummy things happening to you and your kids! I'm sorry you guys had a rough day! :( I hope today is better. Critter- I am glad you are feeling better and I hope your boys get well quickly. I didn't get everything done on my afternoon list yesterday so we have a little extra school work to do today but that's ok, we are not going anywhere today. We need a day at home, badly. We were at the in-law's late last night, so we are moving a little slowly this morning. Again, that's ok! Not going anywhere! Today's list : - lots of fun schooly things (more details later) - laundry (going) - make a nice dinner - relax 4 Quote
mama25angels Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I'm baaaack!! Oh my goodness, we had such a crummy weekend! The Internet was horrible the whole weekend not staying up for than a few minutes at a time. The boys and I were in an accident on Sunday, the elder's birthday by the way. A car failed to yield at a stop sign and so I hit him in the rear end and damaged the front of our vehicle, I'm so not happy right now. The vehicle can still be driven, methane goodness, but I'm waiting on the insurance inquiry so that we can have the deductible waived. We did make it to our piano lesson yesterday and got most of our school work done despite dealing with the insurance company, getting quotes, and dropping off and picking up kids from jobs and activities. Today we are working steadily. 2 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Tuesday - day 2 of homeschool high school Algebra - still going very well Logic - a bit "young" for her but she needs this as a prerequisite for the book I really want to do with her so we're going through it quickly. World Geography - She selected a project where she designed a cross-country road trip. I think that we should take it! Literature - I'm frustrated because the literature guide refers to pages in the book that we are studying that don't correspond with the edition that we have. So I spend a lot of time looking for the passage. I'm sort of wondering about ditching the lit. guide. Some of it is stupid. Not sure though. I need to spend some time looking at it more carefully. Maybe I can use some and skip some. Grammar - She's not perfect but she's getting it. Having these grammar cards and reviewing them really helps. No tears over grammar yet! 4 Quote

I plan to organize Ivor, the great white cabinet. And write. Maybe some housekeeping after the clumsies have worn off. :bigear: Your cabinet is named Ivor, because....? My theories, in no particular order: A. The cabinet is not really white, but ivory, and to masculinize the name, you took off the y. Thus, Ivor. B. You were studying Old Norse mythology, came across this cool old name, and thought your cabinet needed naming. C. You once had a beloved large, white dog named "Rover," who walked backwards, and whom you nicknamed "Rovi," and to commemorate his, well, memory, you named your large, white cabinet "Ivor," which is "Rovi" spelled backwards. D. It has something to do with Minecraft. E. It has something to do with Music. F. It has something to do with Trains. G. None of the above. H. All of the above. I. Are you out of your mind, Sahamamamamamamama? Yeah. It's been one of thoooooooooose days here. I drink only water, coffee, and tea, so my winding-down options are limited. 6 Quote

Gentlemommy Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I need some fun nick names! 😂 I'm boring, so I've got nothing. This week is...going. Baby Bird has NOT been sleeping well. Let me rephrase that. Baby Bird has not been sleeping. Period. 😖😩 He's officially 'woken up' since he's past his due date now. He's aware, and he's NOT happy being put down to sleep. If he were mine, I'd snuggle him in my bed, but that's not allowed, so he must get used to his crib, like it or no. It means a lot of shushing, patting, picking up/putting down, and crying. For both of us. 😞 I have been positively exhausted. On top of that, Dh has been working a ton and has had a few out of town days. All that to say, school this week has been minimal at best. Next week we go on vacation, so we are trying to finish up September work this week. The big two girls are testing out of CLE math book 3 (603 and 303), I told them if they score a 90% they don't have to finish the rest of that book (they were both on lesson 11 of their book). I have decided to put IEW writing aside for the week, and we will instead do some free writing for both big girls and writing across the curriculum for history for dd1. We have one section left for our family history reading, and dd1 is moving along nicely through the DA book-she should finish it this week. Today is science coop for the two big girls, while my little dd has a play date. Luckily, we do most of the work during coop, and there is minimal homework. We will have to complete next weeks work either Thursday or Friday since we won't be there for coop. We added in Nature Study yesterday, it went well, even though I wasn't into it as much as I'd like. 😣 I was so tired, I just kind of let them do their thing while I sat and held the baby. Dd1 needs to do her root words, she did logic at Monday coop. I feel as though I need to add in spelling for dd2, who is in third grade. She is actually a natural speller thus far, she doesn't have too much trouble with it, but I feel I should address the spelling rules with her. I'll have to look and see what I already have... She is mooing along nicely with cursive. It's nice to have one that doesn't detest writing and spelling like dd1 did! Both big girls are doing Critical Thinking Co. for grammar, which is going well. Dd3 is finally getting somewhere with reading. We've been doing phonics, but she hates it. I pulled out my First Steps little book, and though she struggled at first with the sight words, now she is recognizing them more and her reading is becoming more fluent. Plus, she feels so big now that she's reading a "chapter book" like her sisters do lol. Miquon math, Memoria Press, Cristical Thinking Co. logic, and copy work are all going well for her. Chores are getting done regularly with our new system. I'm paying out a ton each week, but it's worth it for now. I can use all the help I can get! I have got to pack for our trip. I've got most of the pantry items done. The girls will take care of their clothing and car bags. I also need to do baby birds things, which will be a ton. I need to make a grocery run before we go. Kids are getting up, so I suppose I should tend to them lol. 5 Quote
MrsRobinson Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Good morning! We are eating breakfast and waking up all the way. I never have my planner in front of me when I post here so I'm not very specific. I know I am giving ds a numbers break in math and we are going to do shapes for a bit. Reading, language arts, math for dd, and group science are rolling along nicely. Just doing the next lesson. Piano practice for dd, piano lesson, and driving dh to another medical appointment will fill the rest of our day. Oh, our read aloud is Poppy. :) 4 Quote
Critterfixer Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 I'm currently sipping tea and revising the third draft of a story I've got to get out for critique today. Then I've got to put together the rest of the day--but priorities! Today's schedule: French-Unit 17, workbook Latin-Unit 5 Test Math-Light Unit Test Grammar/Composition- Spelling practice, Exercise in KISS, Free Writing I think that will do it. I could start history and science, but I'd rather have a light week while all of us are getting through the cold, and I'm not in a hurry. Today should be movie night, but the boys want to go to the fair, so we'll do that instead. For me: French, Latin, Geometry, Grammar, Writing, Housekeeping, Cooking project. 4 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Wed. Algebra 1 - Her first two mistakes. I note this simply because I was holding my breath a bit on how her reaction would be to getting something wrong. She argued with me a bit until I had her actually work the problem. But then she caught her mistakes on her own and fixed them. Logic - Again, a bit of a lower level than I'd like but we are still in the first week so maybe it will pick up a bit in difficulty. Literature - I gave her the choice of answering the lit. guide questions or writing a summary of the chapter. She chose the lit. guide questions I don't always like their questions - some seem a bit random. I mean, do you know the significance of Bilbo Baggins wearing a dressing gown when he first got up? Perhaps everyone does and I'm just left out of the loop? I did decide to grade these questions just pass/fail because they are so subjective that I felt like I couldn't really give an honest grade. There are tests and essays that can be graded more objectively, I think. Grammar - She is rocking grammar right now. Who would have thunk? No World Geography today since she finished the entire week's work on Monday and Tuesday. And since I'm still waiting on the biology book to arrive and plan to start Japanese next week, we had a short school day. 4 Quote
mama25angels Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Our school day is done! The older got everything on his list done except for his literature. Critterfixer Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 We are still fighting off colds here. I'm about over mine. I can now sweep a room or do the dishes without feeling faint. Gentlemommy Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Thursday. Baby Bird woke up a few times more than I'd like last night, but in between, he did actually sleep, which I am grateful for. Now if I could get DH to stop snoring. :glare: He did let me sleep in a little, so I've forgiven him lol. Kids are having half hour of screen time so I can drink a cup of coffee in peace. Today we will tackle history, geography, and LA. Math is done for September! Well, not for the year old, but she's working ahead in Miquon, so I don't really care about skipping a week with her. Yesterday we vacuumed and mopped the kitchen, wiped the cabinets and appliances, scrubbed the bathtubs, and dusted the basement (where we have 8 bookshelves of books, so its a huge job). Today we will dust the main and second levels, vacuum and mop the main level, vacuum the second level, clean 2/4 bathrooms. Well that is my goal anyway, but we will see if it actually gets done. DH is home today, so I want to take advantage of him being here. Plus, Baby Bird is at visitation today for a few hours, so that will help too. I have no idea what the kids have had to eat today so far. I slept through breakfast. I suppose I should think ahead to dinner, but my brain is fried. I think I have a roast in the freezer, if I can get it thawed in time, I'll make it in the dutch oven. *School work done! *Vacuuming and mopping of main level done! *Roast thawed and in the oven. Baby Bird is back from visitation and he is ALL out of sorts. 😢😣 Poor little guy. Edited September 15, 2016 by Gentlemommy 5 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Thursday - Dd did the majority of her schoolwork in the beginning of the week so today was a light day for her. Algebra 1: She got a couple wrong but one was a simple computational error. The other two problems were ones that I was able to show her once she stopped arguing with me and became teachable. Grammar - She got an A on her first test! Woo hoo! Literature - just reading today. Again, I am reminded that next week I need to revamp how I assign the literature pages. I can easily double what I assigned this week and she would not be stressed at all. On my homework - I did a lot on my Japanese lesson planning/writing today. We also got the Oak Meadow biology coursebook. It looks like it will be a very good fit for her. She was bemused and bit offended when they sent her a kindergarten fat pencil with her high school biology book. She was bemused and entertained by the balsa wood airplane that they also sent. 4 Quote

Sahamamama Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 This is what we've been up to, just like we planned it -- Tuesday 9/13 Regular meals, chores, laundry, pets, exercise School Work -- lots and lots Early bedtime Wednesday 9/14 Regular meals, chores, laundry, pets, exercise School Work -- a good, solid work day Church midweek Thursday 9/15 Regular meals, chores, laundry, pets, exercise School Work -- a bit lighter, because of choir Choir practice The laundry is caught up, the cleaning is caught up, the meals have been good (my cooking!), the house is now peaceful and quiet. I'm drinking herbal tea and a pumpkin spice candle is burning. :) We're almost wrapping up our work for September, and the month is only half done (we started up at the end of August). I'm glad for that bit of a head start. We were able to go to the lake on Monday, and we'll probably get to the beach this weekend, too. And I'd like to head out at least one other day, probably to something farmy and fallish, either a corn maze or a pumpkin patch or something like that. AND, for sure, at least two fall family hikes. ;) School is going well this year, it's rolling along as a vital, enjoyable part of things, but doesn't feel like the "whole deal." Staying home on Monday nights (instead of going to AWANA) has really helped, too. This way, Monday gets off to a strong start, and keeps on going strong, since we know we won't be going until 9:30 pm! We're not good at being out at night, it just wonks us out. The girls started back to church midweek this week, and they love it. They are also doing children's choir, and that is going well. And they've gone back to children's church on Sundays. They had been sitting with us in the service since January, for a change, but they want to be in with their friends now that a few things were switched up for the better. Take some time to reflect a bit this weekend. These years are passing by swiftly, and your children will soon be grown. Your job as homeschooling mom will end. Your relationships and memories will remain. What do you treasure now? What is the lasting fruit of all your daily work and toil? Where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. And yes, like Chester Cricket, I am feeling Septemberish. 4 Quote
Penguin Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Hello, folks. We are making our international move in about two weeks, and we have not dropped the ball on school so I can feel accomplished just by that, right?! Picking up medical records today. Movers are lined up. DS is registered for extracurriculars. A fun day planned tomorrow with a close friend. My mom is here cheering me on and reminding me to BREATHE. 5 Quote
Sahamamama Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 And here I thought it was an Ikea cabinet. :D Oh, wow, an option I hadn't thought of! How could I miss that? Yes, it could have been the name of something from Ikea! :) Svärtan, Valje, Lakheden, Lindshult, Vårvind, Ivor. 3 Quote

Critterfixer Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 Not an IKEA cabinet. Just a stick built thing that came with the house. I've never been to an IKEA place. Put that on my bucket list. Today the boy is better. He has more energy. So we will do our French, Latin and Math and call that good, and spend the rest of the day writing. No housekeeping for me today, but there are always chores, and I want to make my plum tart from the recipe I wrote down and see if I need to adjust it. I am also waiting on critiques on my short story, but I probably won't get those back until Saturday or Sunday. 5 Quote
Gentlemommy Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 *Official* school work for September is done, so today is a rest and packing day. Girls watched some New Dimensions videos on their science and history studies. Love those. The dishwasher and a load of laundry is going. I've had to wash the same load 3x so far trying to get cigarette smoke smell out. Baby Birds mom sent some clothes for him and I threw them in with our clothes, not thinking they'd make the whole load reek. :confused1: I've done two regular cycles and one with Tea Tree Oil in the rinse cycle...I think that did the trick. I have two more loads waiting in the wings. I'll have the girls pack their clothing for our trip, and I'll start packing for myself and Bird. Kitchen got vacuumed and mopped yesterday, but the main level didn't get dusted. Nor did the bathrooms get cleaned. Sigh. Will attempt to get to those things today. I also need to get to the store to buy some things for the trip, a birthday gift, and a small little something to bring to my nephew when we visit. 6 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Dd finished up today's work last night so that she could spend part of the day with her college friend before she goes back to college. I've planned next week so I'm done with my responsibilities. Ds' college starts on Monday. I picked up the books he bought today at the bookstore. 4 Quote

You could try distilled white vinegar in the rinse cycle (or in the fabric softener dispenser). Or, if she sends stinky clothes again, try soaking his clothes first in warm water and white vinegar. If that doesn't work, you could try borax or washing soda. Sometimes in the summer, my workout clothes get a bit ripe, and I just blast them with all three (plus detergent, plus Oxi-Clean), so I'm not really certain which one is working, LOL. Yes, they are that stinky! But never do they smell like cigarettes. Yuck. 4 Quote
Sahamamama Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 We had a good day. Hubby is now mowing the lawn with the last bit of daylight, the girls are playing out back, and I need to change out the bunny bedding and workout before the sun goes down. Well, I could workout after it's dark (treadmill in the garage), but the rabbits can't wait until then. We have finished almost all of our September work, and I am so pleased with how this year is going so far. The girls are excited and happy, too. They enjoy doing their work most days, and they are so much more independent this year than last. I'm proud of them, to be honest. We still have one Composition assignment for oldest, plus some Assigned Independent Reading (with written work) for all three, plus a good chunk of Science to accomplish. I think that next week, I'll hold off on assigning anything other than these things, and we'll really focus on Science on Monday and Tuesday. That should wrap up September's work, thankfully a bit "early." Tomorrow is Picnic on the Beach Day. :coolgleamA: I love going in September, when all the heat and crowds are gone. It's so pleasant! On Sunday, my parents are meeting us at church, then coming back for the afternoon. My husband is making something involving eggplant. I think a low-carb pizza? When he cooks, it's delicious, but my kitchen looks like a Grease Bomb hit it. Well, gotta go. The bunnies are calling. 4 Quote
