Maybe I'm missing something....

How do you weigh grades in TT....like between quizzes an daily work.

Do you just average it all out?

Quizzes only? Quizzes 75%, daily work 25%?

Am I making this too complicated?

I use TT and I'm a big advocate of mastery.  If my kid isn't scoring 95-100% on a lesson or quiz, she redoes it until she scores that high before moving on to the next one which makes grading really simple. I strongly caution parents against moving a child on in math until the concept is thoroughly mastered.

I think you're making it more difficult than it needs to be. :-)

I would only use final tests for the grade. Until then, children are still learning and perfecting and whatnot; it isn't fair to judge them based on how quickly or slowly they mastered a concept, KWIM?

I don't really worry about grading until they are in High School and need grades for their transcript.  For my boys I just look over their work and if I feel they aren't getting it we work on it until they do.  For DD I grade only based on the average of her tests and do not include daily work.  If I see she is struggling with a concept I have her go back over it until she gets it before having her take the test.
