Janeway
4 yr old took the iPad and took lots of pictures of the baby, who just turned one, while naked. She takes pictures all the time, so the intent was not specific to him being naked, but rather that she can easily take 100 pictures in just a few minutes with the iPad. Most pictures are a blur. But, there are several very cute ones that have the baby in it, but he is totally naked. I simply uploaded the pictures to my computer. I think they are cute. He is all smiling and happy. He is not doing anything questionable at all. My husband saw the pictures and claims that any picture of a naked child would be considered child porn and I needed to delete them immediately. I think he is being silly! Also, you cannot really see his little boy part in the pictures, just mostly his backside. One picture, the little boy part can sort of be seen, but it is blurry in that space. edited to add: I trimmed off the bottom of the one picture with the blur of the private part. So nothing shows on anything except his buns. Edited September 10, 2016 by Janeway
ktgrok
If the "important bits" are blurred or not really in the photo, i wouldn't worry one bit. It's your own child, and most parents have bathtub photos and such. I wouldn't worry, but just don't post them or send them to anyone. lovinmyboys
I believe that if they are of your own child who is young enough to be in diapers then they are fine. Don't post or send over the Internet though.
Guest
Well and I think context is important. I don't think cops go around arresting people for innocent pictures of their kids in tubs. I think they've got their hands full with true perverts and pictures that leave no question that the photos are exploitative. This is one scenario where I think everyone has tipped to the opposite extreme on this kind of thing and into unjustified paranoia, as shown by the recent FaceBook napalm picture debacle. And I would tell my child she cannot take photos unless she asks first. This could really go wrong, if you think about it. What if she took a photo of herself and sent it to someone, completely oblivious to the implications, on an IPad registered to you or your husband? I'd eliminate that possibility. Perhaps you can lock down the camera (I don't know - our kids were half grown when cell phones became popular). Butter
I've seen plenty of baby backside professional pictures. I wouldn't worry about it.
goldberry
Baby backsides are fine. It both sickens and angers me that this even has to be an issue. Sad times.
Bluegoat
Really, I don't think this is something to be worried about at all. It isn't child porn, or even being used as such, it's a family photo. TBH the fact that people sexualize that is a little disturbing to me.
Guest
What?? Baby butt is totally fine. You're husband is over-reacting. How could that be porn??
Storygirl
I don't think there would be any problem with you having that kind of picture of your own baby on your own computer. But I wouldn't post them on any site that will share them with others. Keep them private. But I don't think it's worth arguing over. If your husband has strong feelings, I'd delete them. You will have many other cute pictures of your children through the years.
Reefgazer
Naked baby pics are not porn; we've got a ton of them, showing all sorts of stuff. *shrug*
lovinmyboys
I asked someone who spends lots of time prosecuting for inappropriate child pictures. This person said that naked baby pictures are totally fine in every situation as long as they are not sexually explicit. You will know what sexually explicit is. So, you are fine to have them on your computer or to do whatever else you feel comfortable doing with them. I, personally, would keep them but keep them private.
Guest
I do think it's a worthwhile conversation with the daughter; she needs to know that taking photos of anyone naked is not a good activity to pursue.
