Ann.without.an.e
I recently tested positive. I have had two difficult miscarriages in a row, one at 12 weeks and one at 13 weeks. I should feel happy but I feel...anxious and depressed. I wonder if I should see a doctor and see if they can run tests on me (what if there is a problem with me that is causing the miscarriages?) Should I stick with the practice I went to with the last two pregnancies since I know they are vbac friendly even though it is terribly inconvenient and they didn't seem to care at all that I miscarried. Or should I find a new practice, knowing that a local one will not allow a vbac. I struggled with these feelings with my last pregnancy and I want to shake it this time and not battle with depression. maize
If you want to try out a different practice for the first trimester that should not prevent you from switching to the VBAC friendly practice later. I've switched before mid-pregnancy.
maize
Do you have any fertility clinics in your area? They may be the best bet to look into what factors might have contributed to your miscarriages. I believe in some cases hormonal supplements can help prevent miscarriage.

gardenmom5
was there any testing done to determine if there was a cause? that there were two at the same point would make me wonder if it was a coincidence (in which case you would likely have a normal pg this time), or something else. e.g. clotting - takes a baby aspirin. my sister had inadequate progesterone and had weekly injections. if the current practice hasn't even suggested testing, are they open to exploring what can be done to make sure this is a healthy pregnancy? otherwise, I would look for another practice that will focus on helping you to have a healthy pregnancy. you have to do that before you can consider if you want a vbac or not.
ktgrok
I'd definitely go to another practice for now. Miscarrying that late seems to indicate a possible issue that can be corrected. You can switch to a VBAC friendly provider later.
Janeway
Deplin. Ask your OB to prescribe it. It has done miracles for me. Google it too.
Janeway
Also, if you take Deplin, you should not take folic acid. It is a type of folic acid, in a simpler form so easier to digest. On the miscarriages....you should see a specialist. This is actually considered a fertility issue, but it is probably too late to get in with an RE. Have you ever had any blood work at 9-10 weeks to see if the baby is genetically healthy?
Janeway
Oh, and even though you are depressed and worried, I want to say, Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! I am very happy for you!
Rachel
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I've been there with later miscarriages and anxiety about delivering a healthy baby. Please talk to your doctor as there are many different causes for miscarriages. I have not learned why I miscarried but I did have three healthy babies after the first one. My cousin whose miscarriage was similar to mine has delivered two healthy babies post miscarriage. One friend had low progesterone levels causing her two second trimester losses. She gave herself daily shots and delivered a healthy baby. There are things that can help. Check to see if your local hospice has a support group or grief counseling, that may help some with your anxiety. Good luck!
ktgrok
Yes, I would call local reproductive endocrinologists/fertility centers and beg to be seen. Explain you've had two miscarriages at 12 and 13 weeks, (most are before that, as I'm sure you know) and just found out you are pregnant again and want to see what can be done to protect the pregnancy. They will have the most options for testing, treatment, etc.
Ann.without.an.e
Thanks ya'll. I have been using supplements for a little while. I began a highly rated progesterone cream today. I'll look into a reproductive endo and deplin. Thanks so much.
BooksandBoys
I love the idea of switching back to the VBAC practice later (loveecmy VBACs). I had a good friend switch practices at 34 weeks. It happens.
