  1. 1. Can you wear clashing wellies for practical purposes in public?

    • Gawd, no! Choose other shoes or change the outfit!

    • Generally not done but this is America. Go your own way.

Going out for coffee with a friend this evening and it's raining off and on, with thunderstorms forecasted. I considered wearing my cute new wellies. They are black and white floral. However, they would not match my current outfit, which is a blue and white tie-dye skirt and royal blue tee. Is it gauche to wear rain boots in a definite, yet clashing, print? Or is it merely a practicality? I'm not changing clothes just to have coffee with my friend, lol.

I'm in Alaska. During spring break-up ( thaw)  priority is keeping your feet dry.  Wear whatever works.  Who says wellies need to match?

Well, I sometimes wear MuckMasters with yoga pants to the feed store, so my bar is obviously going to be set towards the practical and that's how I voted. (I have also been known to wear them with pajamas, shorts, and ahem, the occasional swimsuit     if an emergency pasture situation calls......so maybe my opinion shouldn't count. My neighbors all do the same though, so at least we're a tribe. A small tribe, but I take what I can get. You can wear mismatched Wellies with us if you're even in TX. )

LOL, I live in a heavily livestock/horse area with 4H kids and leaders everywhere so wellies do not get a second pass unless they are donned for weddngs and.funerals, and.mind you, they are kind of okay for SOME weddings and funerals. :D

Well, for true confessions, I changed my skirt to a white skirt with a black belt, though I kept the same tee shirt on. It was pouring when I had to leave and...I don't know, I guess my OCD kicked in and I just couldn't wear the clash. So I conformed.

No, I would never wear my Wellies (we call them irrigating boots) out in public because they're covered with manure! However, yours are probably cleaner.

We call them barn boots. They look and smell exactly like you'd expect. They don't go with any cute outfits whatsoever.

Mine are purple, and one time, I was at a country band's concert at a llama farm and the singer started singing about "the girl rocking the purple boots." It made my day!
