Meredith Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Hello, Just a quick question about the possibility of uploading transcripts from organizations such a PA Homeschoolers or The Potter's School onto the Common App. Is it better to have those grade reports (from PAH or TPS) sent directly to the colleges? Or would it be OK to upload a grade report? (I was planning on having them sent directly until I realized that I have 4 transcript uploads allowed.) I know that any dual-enrolled transcripts from colleges should be sent directly to the colleges. Just wondered if it was different for online high school courses. Thanks, Meredith 1 Quote
Sebastian (a lady) Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Are either of those schools accredited? I did not bother sending grade reports from independent online providers that were not accredited. I think I may have used one slot to upload several scanned pages of college transcripts that were also sent separately as official transcripts from the community colleges. (My uploads were not official but could serve as placeholders until the real thing arrived. ) 4 Quote
teachermom2834 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I did not send transcripts from online providers. I just listed the course and grade on the high school transcript. I had the transcripts sent directly for the two colleges ds did de at. 4 Quote
mjbucks1 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 My son took 9 AP classes from PA Homeschoolers. I did not upload the transcript (just reported the grades on my homeschool transcript and indicated that they were taken through PAH). 5 Quote
dirty ethel rackham Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 My son took 9 AP classes from PA Homeschoolers. I did not upload the transcript (just reported the grades on my homeschool transcript and indicated that they were taken through PAH). That's what I did. We had several different online providers (one of which was no longer around.) We just indicated on the transcript who the provider was. We never sent grade reports and no one ever asked for one. 3 Quote
Meredith Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 OK, thanks! So no one actually had PA Homeschoolers send transcripts to colleges? I thought it would be more official, that colleges would appreciate the verification of outside evaluation as opposed to grades from a parent. Quote

Unless they are accredited, it would likely mean nothing to the college, at least not any more than you just reporting the grades. As others have said, I just included them in my overall transcript. If my dc had taken many classes with one provider, I would probably attach that transcript for information purposes with my transcript. I did that with the local PS transcript showing one dd took band and a few other classes there. Quote
tarahillmom Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Just as an FYI. My son was homeschooled until 9th grade, but had a ton of credits. His current transcripts from his school, that are being used for state college scholarships, have listed all of his homeschool credits and credits from his brick & mortar traditional school with the credits broken out by year and school name . So they are used to seeing all of the classes listed on the high school transcript and minimizes potential for errors. Quote
