Banana bread fail? What would you do?

That would be weird for it to be done on top but not the bottom. Most ovens or bread machines primarly heat from the bottom first.

 

Did you take it out and then leave it to cool in the pan?

Just curious! Myself, I'm gonna try popping it back in the oven ;)

I hate banana bread so I'd toss it even if it were perfect. Well, no I wouldn't. I'd let the people who like it eat it if they found it edible.

 

If it's not done on the bottom I'd check to see if my oven was functioning properly and perhaps try to let it bake longer.

Slice in half and pop the not done part back in the oven to finish. Or even (gasp) finish not done half in the microwave

My dh has instructed me to always underbake the banana bread because he loves it that way so ours is always a bit mushy in the middle/bottom.

Have you seen that video circulating on FB where Bobby Flay toasts slices of banana bread in a waffle iron, then tops them with bananas foster? It looks crazy good and decadent and would solve your problem! :-)

. I always have to bump my oven temp up by 25 degrees usually and forgot today :( I took it out and did not leave it in the pan I popped it out to cool right away. I'll have to try some tomorrow but it looks a bit better after an add'l 30 mins in the oven at temp + 25 degrees.

I'd pop it into the microwave to finish it off.  I've learned that I need to cook banana bread until it is very dark in color or it isn't done in the middle.

 

It's very frustrating, but this has happened to me too many times!
