Dianne-TX Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Is it better than Hughes? What other options do you know of for country folks needing internet access that can support large data transfers like online classes, etc.? Oddly enough, it is working fine for the actual online classes we are taking (through GoTo meeting for one and the other is text based only) and for the few online videos they need to watch for their lessons, but it is not working for transferring large data input. We currently use a mobile hotspot through ATT. It's the best we know of, but we really need something better. My kiddos are frustrated after starting school this week and they are constantly stalling on their questions that require large data transfer. They are using Monarch for some classes. Thanks. 1 Quote
Dianne-TX Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 Never mind. They misled me on their website and said it was available when I entered my address. When dh called, they said it wasn't. Sigh. Any other suggestions? Quote
Lanny Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 A childhood friend lives in UT in a rural area. I believe he has Terrestrial Internet. Here are 2 links. Check to see if there is a provider, in a nearby town. http://www.niasat.com/q-what-is-the-difference-between-terrestrial-land-based-internet-and-satellite-internet-service/ http://vistabeam.com/5g-fixed-terrestrial-wireless/ Quote
