EmilyGF Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 We have a friend coming from out of town today. We just learned it is her b-day. But she's GF, so cake won't work. What to do? (Bonus points if it is easy...) Emily Quote
Kassia Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I'd add chocolate chips to this: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/claire-robinson/flourless-peanut-butter-cookies-recipe.html 1 Quote
Aura Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Go to Kroger and look in the frozen bakery section. They carry gluten free cakes. Also, rice krispie treats are gf, and you can add sprinkles to make them more birthday-ish. 1 Quote
KatieJ Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 My monster cookie recipe is gluten free, but has oats. Quote
Tess in the Burbs Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Kinnikinick carries a gluten free vanilla glazed donut that is wonderful. Kroger should carry it in the freezer section with the other GF items.but ice cream would rock too Quote
Lang Syne Boardie Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Rice crispy treats! Only if you can get gf cereal!! Kellogg's is not! Same goes for oats. Certified gf only, no Quaker regular. I'd do something frozen, or ice cream, because you could have serious cross contamination issues if you don't have a gf kitchen and aren't used to the protocol. Quote
zoobie Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Ice cream cake or whipped cream "cake" using GF Oreos or Joe Joes Quote
Mama Geek Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Some ice cream is GF, I know that Bryers Mint Choc Chip and vanilla are GF, there are others but not sure without looking Quote
Junie Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I'm gf and I would rather have a sundae bar -- with all of the packages available so that I can read the labels for myself. I surely would not want to be sick on my birthday. Good luck, OP!! 3 Quote
Junie Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 PSA: About Rice Krispies -- any cereal that has "barley malt" listed as an ingredient is NOT gf. There are a lot of cereals that would be gf if they would just replace barley malt with something else. Quote

Probably not, b/c they'd still be running them on the same lines as the other cereals. :( 1 Quote
