beansprouts
Can you recommend a good thesaurus for a 5th grader? Thanks!
angela in ohio
We love, love, love the Synonym Finder. It is so much easier to use than a regular thesaurus. It is arranged alphabetically, so that every use of a word is together, and you don't have to flip around to find the kinds of synonyms you need. My 5th and 7th graders are using it. PeterPan
If you want one step down from the Synonym Finder (which is adult level, very thick, etc.), the American Heritage Student Thesaurus, from the same people that do the dictionary, is very good. It has larger print, crisp white pages, sample sentences, and is just generally easy to use for a kid. My dd (4th gr) is using it right now and likes it.
