El... Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 DH and a friend went scuba diving today and brought me three lionfish and a great big lobster tail on ice! I just learned to fillet the fish, and now I'm going to learn how to cook the lobster meat in butter. Lots of butter. 2 Quote
Miss Tick Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Good for you all eating lionfish, isn't that invasive? and delicious? I'm jealous! Quote
MEmama Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Was it legal? Here, there are major problems for anyone catching lobster without a license. Lobster is so rich on its own it really doesn't need butter. But enjoy however you make it! :) Quote
El... Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 It was delicious! Yes, it was legal. They have the right licensing. They had to put back a big lobster with eggs. :) The lionfish is an invasive species in our area, so whatever the divers catch (spear, really) the boat captain sells on the local market. He actually sells to Whole Foods, which I find funny for some reason! It was somewhat gamey, in a fishy sense, but good. Dh's friend taught me to fillet them, and now I think I need a new knife just for that. 1 Quote
