OnMyOwn
What do you do to help your high school students stay on top of deadlines? Both of mine will be taking lots of outside/online classes. I'm going to get them daytimers, and I was thinking of having each of them come up with a rough schedule/to-do list each day. I'm not so worried about my ds. Most of his classes are local and he only really needs reminders from me about longer-term projects and papers or things that are not school-related. My dd, however, will be taking 4 or 5 online classes and doing a few with me at home. I used to be extremely organized and now, sadly, I am not. I'd love to hear what others do to keep on top of things.
HomeAgain
We have the same conversation every Sunday: What are your goals this week? Which long term goals are you currently working on? What's up on your master calendar (things to do his senior year, month by month)? He tells me he'll get back to me, and a few hours later has a list broken down by day of everything he's working on that week. I may make a suggestion or two (hey, you've been having trouble remembering to do x weekly. Does your ipod have a reminder function?) but just making sure he has a sounding board has turned out pretty well.

We set up a notebook where she can keep all of her syllabi and other important info for her classes and she is typing up a schedule for the week for me to review right now. Peaceful Isle
My teen makes her own schedule. She is very responsible, and likes to get school done. She knows that if her school work and music lessons aren't done, there is no time left for her shows. I do expect chores from her as well, but only a little.
2_girls_mommy
My new 9th grader has ADHD, so it doesn't come naturally to her. She doesn't/can't make her own schedules, lol. I make a weekly/day by day schedule much like a regular school schedule, hour by hour. I have set up a formal records book for she and I to both work in and keep track of her official records. And I set up a journal/calendar with her. I am setting aside once a week to go over the week's plans and schedules with her. We will go over the calendar, fill in anything from mine that she needs to know, make her week's to do list, etc. I put a sheet for co-op homework as the front page. I will check it when she comes from outside classes each week to make sure she has her homework written down. And we will keep her syllabi and calendars from outside events in there as well. I am hoping that by doing it together she will start to form some self organization over the next 4 years.
