Final day before the kids' sleepover.

Boss knows I am preparing for the sleepover so she is afraid I won't do enough work.  So I now have a deliverable list for work.  In a way it is just as well - I'm not great at prioritizing.

The list:

  • Kids up & off to camp (with driver).  [done]
  • Work.
  • Clean for maids.
  • Pack up box or two of hand-me-downs for sister's kids.
  • Deal with maids.
  • A little reading.
  • A little exercise.
  • Go to kids' robotics class debrief.
  • Make kids finish their week's math and reading.
  • Kids to basketball, followed by swimming and shower.  Work / walk while they play.
  • Kids & I clean my car.
  • Change the fish water.
  • Kids clean horse boots so friend can borrow.
  • Read-aloud.
  • Kids to bed.
  • Another load or two of laundry.
  • Work.
  • What am I forgetting?

Good morning! Today is orientation day for ds3 for his one-day-a-week school. So far it like my worst stuff, the hassle and paperwork of ps with the parental requirements of a hyper co-op. Sigh. So we will see... Dd2 is frustrated already...she was mistakenly marked absent in one of her classes yesterday. She emailed the teacher and I had to leave a message for the attendence office. She is stressed and perfectionism is rising quickly to the forefront. So this might be a long year and require much more intensive parenting and teaching ("my math teacher can't explain anything.") than I aniticipated. Which I already expected to be like a second unpaid job. We don't have the fall swim schedule yet and that is a very serious source of stress for me.

Ds1 leaves today for school and dd1 leaves tomorrow.

To do:

Spend most of the day at orientation.

Clean kitchen

Go to store ("There is nothing to eat")

Other chores

check in with ds2

Judo?

Have a great day!

This is an unusual summer with regard to rain here. The grass is often brown and crunchy in August.  Hoping the rain lets up in Sept and we get some cold nights to make pretty leaves!

Did you see next week it's suppose to be in the 50's at night?!   I can't tell you how excited that makes me! :)

Thursday!

The newlyweds headed back to their first little apartment today (after their wedding at the end of July, they honeymooned for a week, then came out to visit his parents for a few days and us for a few days and now they are headed back to college) and I am just delighted for them, and delighted to have our home to ourselves for the first time this summer!  Woohoo! No more guests!  We have a few days until we head out to take dd18 to college.  Unfortunately, I let dd18's bad mood put me in a bad mood this morning and I picked a fight with her while I was driving her to work.  I feel terrible about that!!  I should have just driven in moody silence.  And it makes it worse that she will be heading to college in a few days...

To do:

lunch for dh

dd to work

buy travel snacks for newlyweds

send newlyweds out the door

tidy up

wash bedding

make bed

sign up for parent lunch during college orientation

go out for a 20 minute run

do something fun with ds

dd15 to service project

figure out picnic dinner

pick up dd18 from work (with chocolate in hand?)

deliver kids to dad for picnic dinner and fun (nope)

go to spouse meeting and try really hard to enjoy it

order books with dd18

Lesson 1 activity - completely prepped for 20  kids Note - need irons but other than that, 100% done

Lesson 2 activity - dd and I had a big brainstorming session and I have no idea now what we decided!  Dd is working on this.  We'll have to do some prep there.  OK - 80% done - need to do one last thing.

Lesson 3 activity- 100% done

Lesson 4 activity - 80% done

Lesson 5 activity - 100% done.

Lesson 6 activity - 0% done

Lesson 7 activity - 0% done  but I think this one will be easy

Lesson 8 activity - we are testing this to see if it will even work.  We won't know until tomorrow.  I have to figure out how to make this one safer for kids.  Or I might go to plan B, which I have not even thought of yet.  Edited to add:  it looks like it is working.

Lesson 9 activity - 25% done.  Need to go out tonight to look for some other pieces to make this work.  This is a bit of a pain-in-the-you-know-what but I think will be a huge hit with the kids so it just might be worth it.
