jsdisneymommy Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I've been using Human Odyssey with my boys, but we have reached Vol 3 and there aren't any workbooks to go along with it. Do any of you have any recommendations of a workbook or companion curriculum that I could use with Human Odyssey Vol 3? I don't like just reading the chapters. I want some structured work to go with it. I purchased History Odyssey, but I am NOT a fan. Quote
redsquirrel Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Not workbooks, but with those books I often used "crash course history' videos by John Greene. They aren't long, about 15 mins, funny and full of information. We often watched them first and then did the reading. They aren't aligned or anything, the CC videos are made for kids studying for the AP history classes and are meant to be short and sweet introduction to the topic. I just looked for videos that matched up in general. I sort of winged it, lol. Some weeks we watched two and some weeks we watched none. It was more difficult to find resources for book three of Human Odyssey. The K12 course is all online, so there are no printed resources to go with it. I think...I also pulled in some SOTW 4 and looked at some of the resources in the book 4 AG as well. We might have done a few projects. We had used SOTW 4 in 4th grade, but it is a good enough book that it worked as a good supplement for 8th grade. Quote
Goldilocks Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I had my kids write down 1 fact per section as they read, so they had 6-10 facts for each chapter. We shared our facts, and then I came up with a few discussion questions. Quote
ScoutTN Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 We are not to vol. 3 yet, but do you have literature to supplement? We use that, whatever documentaries or movies I can turn up, and dd writes and outlines as SWB recommends in TWTM. Quote
MamaSprout Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Dd just sort of read it on her own (we're still doing HO2), but I'm thinking of doing MP Geography 3 with whatever she hasn't already read of HO3 (which is much shorter than the other two books.) It's my understanding that MP Geo 3 would take about 3 hours per week if student already knows some geography. Quote
