Nicholas_mom Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Hi, I am looking for something to thoroughly teach about maps- from long/lat, contour maps, scale, GPS etc. to creating their own maps. I do not want a workbook. I am looking for it to be just a bunch of hands on activities, like taking a topo map and creating a 2-D map of a mountain to drawing a 3-D mountain. I am thinking, regarding timeline, anywhere from a couple of weeks worth of fun activities to only maybe a semester course. Any body have any ideas? Quote
homeschoolmama37 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Maybe check National Geographic for some resources. I would also check the library and see what you can find. Maybe some online resources as well. Most of the geography courses I have seen are workbook based and use mostly maps. Maybe what you are looking for is a topography/cartography course. It sounds like this might be something you could design yourself if you had the right library/online resources. 1 Quote

I think you just put into words what I was exactly looking for but did not know how to search! That was very helpful. Now, off to some searching... Quote
