kbutton Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Can anyone tell me the differences between editions of IEW? Also, how do you know what edition you have? Do newer editions say 2nd or 3rd addition on the materials? Quote
cintinative Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 What product? Some things have been revised and improved (e.g. TWSS and Fix-It). I believe the history based writing lessons products have been updated to better coordinate with the TWSS. Other items have not been changed. If something has been modified it should say which edition it is on the cover. Quote
kbutton Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Do you know what the major changes to TWSS are? I am asking for someone else, which is why my questions are not very specific. I think older versions are acceptible, but knowing the trade-offs would be helpful. Quote
OneStepAtATime Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I don't have them in front of me but I upgraded from the original to the current TWSS when they were letting people do it really cheaply. The updated version of TWSS has more DVDs, the DVDs were all updated so the quality is better, explanations are clearer and it goed into more depth, IIRC. The order and layout was restructured but I can't remember specifics or to what extent. I am traveling but can look at them later. I still have the old notebook with the table of contents. I had to send the old DVDs back to get the upgrade. Fix-It was really revised and revamped and beefed up compared to its predecessor. Like a LOT. While the original version of TWSS is probably fine for writing instruction (although the new version is easier to use IMHO) I would not use the original Fix It as a full grammar program. 1 Quote

When you say current edition, you mean the third edition? Quote
kbutton Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Okay, never mind me. The person I'm asking for just said the new one IS the 2nd edition! Sorry to be so obtuse. :-) Thanks! Quote
cintinative Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 If you have the old TWSS I believe you can still exchange it for the new (if you did not buy it used). http://iew.com/help-support/blog/great-2015-twss-upgrade They were still telling people they could do this in April 2016 at convention. SWI-A has not been updated. 1 Quote
