sunshineslp
I have been using Logic Of English for my "learn to read" program for my kids. I have taught 2 children with it and I like it (mostly). however, i have been considering RLTL for my 3rd child, mainly because I am curiuos about it but also because I feel like I need a change of pace! has anyone used Logic of English and RLTL that can discuss the differences or why you picked one over the other?

silver
I've used both, although I've only used RLTL for spelling, never for start-at-the-beginning-phonics. I actually used LOE Foundations for learning to read and switched to RLTL once they were reading fluently. My daughter didn't have the tolerance for LOE once she was reading, so she never even finished level C before I switched her. If you do go with RLTL, the author has a workbook to go along with it that teaches handwriting and has some phonological awareness worksheets: http://www.lulu.com/shop/kathy-jo-devore/handwriting-lessons-through-literature-handwriting-for-beginning-readers-vertical-edition/ebook/product-22090698.html
sunshineslp
Thanks! So if a kid is on LoE C and still struggling just a bit with reading, would they go into RLTL level 1 or 2? silver
I started my daughter in RLTL level 1 when she had part of LOE level C completed. It could go either way, since a student that has completed level C of LOE would know the phonograms and be familiar with marking words. But if I had a student that was still struggling, I'd probably start them in level 1 of RLTL.
