Dividing the Magic Kingdom in half

If you know that you are going to be 2 days at the Magic Kingdom, does it make sense to tackle one half of the park one day and the other half on day 2?  This seems like such a simple idea, but I figure there might be something wrong with my plan.

Thanks!

Agreeing with mom2att.  I would hate to have you do something day 2 and wish you had done it both days.

You should be able to do *most* of the MK in one day.  Maybe not all, but most.

Then re-hit those things you really enjoyed on Day 2.

There are things I don't care for as much.  If I only hit Fantasyland and Toontown the first day with teens, they wouldn't want to go back.  But if I make sure and hit Frontierland and Tomorrowland, they will have an entirely different experience.

I probably wouldn't do two days at MK in one trip unless I was going to be there for more than 5 days (5 days inside of Parks). But if I were doing two days in MK, I'd look at the parade schedules to determine part of the planning for the days.

Sometimes, an attraction you want to go on is not operating one day, but it might be the next day. I would prioritize the things you want to do (DD prepared lists for each park in WDW and UO and I used the free trip planning web site from the Unofficial book).  For example, the day we were in Magic Kingdom all day, the Train was not operating.  We had been there in May 2000 when my wife was pregnant and she wanted to ride the train.  The day we planned to spend all day in Epcot, we left there early (we were on 4 day Park Hopper tickets) and the first park we went to was Magic Kingdom. That day, the train was operating and we rode it.  Then, we went to Animal Kingdom and I think to Hollywood Studios, looking for something DD hadn't bought the first time she saw it. We rode the River Rapids ride in Animal Kingdom, several times. The bird show there was IMO excellent.  Have a good time!

We always do at least 2 days in MK (we always stay a minimum of 5 days). Because I usually go with my (adult kids and) grandkids, we split MK by doing one day with Fantasyland first (I use a modified version of what easyWDW recommends), and one day hitting Adventureland (Jungle Cruise) and going up that side first. If there are adults that want to do Space Mountain, we get fast passes for that for the afternoon on the Fantasyland first day. If you don't have small children that care to do a lot of character meets, you could hit Space Mountain/Buzz first then work your way into Fantasyland on your Fantasyland day doing all you can early THEN booking FPs for late morning or right after lunch.

As long as you are at the park prior to opening, and preferably not on an Extra Magic Hours day, you should be able to get plenty done the first couple hours (depending on crowds) before you would need a fast pass. My clients generally go during off-season times (that's what I recommend if asked), and I rarely book a fast pass for anyone before 11 or 12 (depending on if they want to have their lunch early or late). I then book fast passes for after lunch when crowds have picked up, and I work the typically shorter line attractions in between.

My touring plans I prepare for clients are modified versions of EasyWDW, mixed with touringplans.com and my own personal experiences based on our trips there, and what clients' preferences are.

**I should add that with this plan, we ARE able to repeat some favorites on day 2.

The most important thing is to get there well before park opening so that you are ready to hit the ground running before the crowds get bad, and read up on fast passes, so that you have a clear idea of how to obtain and use them. You can likely do the park in a day and hit favorite places again on a second day.

Right now, depending on what you like, and the ages of kids going, doing 2 MK days might be smart even if it means you can't do every park. You'd need to look at the attractions, and consider your children. Hollywood Studios is pretty limited on attractions for kids, and most likely wouldn't fill an entire day unless you were going to do every single show. Actually, none of the other parks have nearly the amount of kid-friendly attractions that MK does, so if I had 4 days, small children, and didn't have a park hopper, I'd likely do 2 MK days and skip HS. We love AK, and Epcot has Frozen + Anna & Elsa so it's a must.
