wehave8
Has anyone used Jot it Down? Would it be useful for an elementary level Writing Cub? Pam
nature girl
With Jot It Down, the parent is transcribing, so I'm not sure how it would work for a writing club? Unless the kids are old enough to write the lessons themselves, then I think most of it would work beautifully.
Jackie
I love Jot it Down, but I'm not coming up with how I would use it in more of a group setting. Parents take dictation for the children, and the curriculum focuses more on organizing thoughts and storytelling than on physically writing. For older elementary, maybe Partnership Writing would work. There's more independence expected of the kids in that one, so you could get people started, give feedback, and do some revision when meeting. newhsmom
We have done Jot it Down and Partnership Writing. I would recommend using PW with an older elementary writing club. You could take the projects in JID and expand them for older kids, but I am not sure it is worth the effort. If the kids are truly in the Jot it Down phase then a writer's club is going to be pretty difficult to pull off unless you have a lot of parent helpers. I just tak=lked to Julie. She was very encouraging and had a lot of helpful ideas. Most of the kids are early elementary, but with most homeschool families, we have a few older ones coming. I will have parents coming. We don't do 'drop off' co-ops. The Moms are starting to catch my excitement about it, and I think I have a plan for our first few meetings.
