Ottakee
I hate using the bathroom in a public location where there is only one seater. The 3 or more is great but even 2 stalls is so much better than one.
luuknam
If there's a line, then yeah, I obviously don't like a line. But in my experience, there's rarely a line. And, they're so much better if you had some sort of accident and need to change (because it's a much bigger area you can lock, generally speaking). Like when I threw up all over myself while driving and needed to put on clean clothes - that wasn't fun in a tiny stall. Would've much preferred a big area with just one toilet and sink and all that.
Georgiana Daniels
I hate public bathrooms in general because I always feel like I have to hover. That said, I kind of like the one stall situation because I don't have to listen to anyone else's bathroom noises, nor to they have to listen to mine. Not that I make any......
Arcadia
I like the one seater ones. It was very useful when I was using a double stroller and out shopping. I prefer family restrooms but one seater one are great too as many has handle bars which my mum finds useful. They are also great for elderly using walkers.
Sun
I only dislike the one-seater ones that should just be a private bathroom--the ones where there's one tiny metal stall, and then the sink and paper towels are outside the stall in the same small room. That pretty much always seems super squished, and I don't like the "pressure" of being the only one keeping the person who's right outside the stall waiting. I love the single-room/single-toilet bathrooms.
Georgiana Daniels
Speaking of stall size...I hate that the doors open inwards, making it nearly impossible for me to get out without touching stuff. :ack2: Clearly designed by someone who didn't have to use them. In fact, one time when I was pregnant, I was basically trapped inside the stall at the county fair. Not fun!
Miss Peregrine
I hate them because the toilet is almost always in view of the door if it opens. I sit there, petrified that I didn't really lock the door or the lock won't work. Edited August 11, 2016 by Miss Peregrine

Unless you live in some tiny town where everyone knows each other, odds are that if someone walks in on you, it's some stranger who you'll never see again. But double checking will just unlock the probably locked door!
Ottakee
See, I hate the one seaters as it always seems like someone else needs it while I am doing business or else I have to wait for someone to finish.

Sun
Me too! But double checking will just unlock the probably locked door! This is why those kinds of bathrooms need a separate deadbolt. Then I can double and triple check the lock without unlocking it accidentally.
Mrs_JWM
Has anyone else ever seen the individual bathrooms that have two toilets? Imagine a one-room, single-seater, but then imagine a second toilet right next to the first with no wall between them. Other homeschoolers told us about one they saw in PA and then we saw one, too! We decided that they were perfect for mothers and daughters out with each other who just loved to talk. 😠Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk

My kids (preschool/toddlers at the time) thought they were AWESOME. I love the single-seater IF it's a locked room containing toilet/sink together. It's so convenient for helping little kids who are too young or too fearful to go in a stall by themselves, and you don't have to worry about sending your opposite-gender kid to the bathroom alone. The only time it's not nice is in busy gas stations when you're on vacation and there are four people dancing in the hallway waiting for that one seat. Generally where I've seen them they have 2-3 unisex bathrooms, and it works pretty well.
KungFuPanda
A one seater means I can use the men's room if it's empty :-)

Imagine a one-room, single-seater, but then imagine a second toilet right next to the first with no wall between them. They used to have these at the bathrooms in the family lounge at shopping malls. It is so that adults and small kids can use the bathroom. For example a nursing mom or a parent who just changed a baby diaper can use the bathroom instead of going out of the family lounge and walk a distance to use the mall's other restrooms. One toilet is the normal adult size and the one next to it is child size.
Guest
I like them. Less waiting as there are more seats available when there are no gender restrictions. Nice to not have to wait in a Ladies line while the Mens is vacant.
Ottakee
Lots of intersting responses. I am more in the hate them category BUT if there are plenty of single stall bathrooms available with no line and no one knocking on the door, then I like them. Otherwise I am still more fond of the restrooms with multiple stalls so I don't feel bad if my business takes a few minutes to complete. I thought am not super picky about my public restrooms. Yes, I love the nice clean ones but I frequently have used the not so clean ones, the porta potties, horse stalls in the barn, back of horse trailers, and even the woods at times. I would rather have 1-2 minutes of not so pleasant facilities than hours of being uncomfortable and needing to go.
