I am looking for online piano lessons for my older girls. I found Hoffman academy ( which is awesome) for my two boys, but my girls are past the level he teaches.

I play piano and have taught them this last year. I would really love to not have to keep teaching the girls though. I want an online teacher, preferably prerecorded, they could follow. I know I could do it, but honestly, by the end of the day I am wiped out.

I don't mind helping them as they learn, but I would love a break from being their main teacher.

Any thoughts or ideas? Anyone found an online recorded lessons they love?

My girls are in levels 2 and 3.

Not for that level.  DS is at level 3, but spends most of his time in non-method-book pieces.  I can't imagine not having a live teacher for the finer points he's learning.

Are regular lessons out of the question?

I can actually help them through everything they need to know because I play as well.

Regular lessons would be too much for us right now. I am already out of the house for other things at least 4x a week, and would love for us to do it on our own schedule.

I guess I want online lessons to give me a break from being "on" and being their only teacher.

I hear ya.  Teaching DS *one more thing* is the straw that will break the camels back.

What if you were hands off except for "lesson" time once a week, like a teacher would be?

What if you handed them appropriate music and told them to just have fun for a couple months?

Could you get some composition books and have them just work though those for a while?

Are there any teachers that would be willing to skype lessons?  DS's teacher will do that if he's sick or whatever.

That's kinda what I'm doing now. It's just so nice to have another "person" tell them what to do, lol. They can't talk back to someone online, they listen. At least my kids do. Also, I don't want to miss key elements of what I need to teach them, because I'm tired or frustrated.

Oh well, I'll keep looking. Skype lessons would be out of reach price wise for us.

These lessons are different, and a lot of fun.  The lessons are broadcast live weekly, but you can watch them later. The kids' version simply has them learning a new song each week, but at six different levels of difficulty. You can also access some of the older lessons in case you need some more songs to work on.

There is also an optional part of the program called "Klopol Academy" where the students prepare for online/Skype tests in order to pass off certain skills... this is a way to make sure that the learning is also methodical in addition to being fun. I think there are only three levels so far, though, so maybe too easy for your girls?

The adult version is different, and I don't have any experience with that one.

He is a funny guy, and makes the lessons interesting.

It looks like you can try it free for 30 days to see if it would work for you guys.

Learn and Master Piano (DVD set, not online, but you're not the teacher) or Rocket Piano might work. They are both prerecorded courses that teach well past the beginner level.
