StaceyinLA Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 If you take collagen peptides, what do you put them in? I know a lot of people have them in their coffee, but what other ways have you taken them? Also, have you noticed a difference in the way you feel, and, if so, what? Quote
VaKim Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Not sure if it is the same thing, but I take Great Lakes collagen hydrolysate in my coffee every morning. I wasn't sure it was doing anything and was going to stop buying it when I ran out, but after a few days, I noticed being significantly stiffer in my feet when I would get up from sitting. I started taking it again and have been fine. Also, my hair and nails grow like crazy. Quote
momacacia Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 We make jello gummies which the kids devour, smoothies, add to soup etc. 1 Quote
aaplank Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I also take Great Lakes collagen and dissolve it in juice. It definitely helps with the aches and pains of fibromyalgia and arthritis. Quote
rdj2027 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I put it in whatever hot drink I have. It has done nothing for my hair, skin and nails but my knees feel much better. I can walk long distances again without my knees killing me. Quote
4kidlets4me Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I use Vital Proteins Collagen and I put it in my coffee mostly. I've also put it in juice or water too. My skin looks so much better since I started taking it in January. Quote
momacacia Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I think I'm just gonna throw it in my Dr. Pepper. ;) 1 Quote
redsquirrel Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Collagen isn't easily digested or absorbed. There is a lot of controversy about whether it's really doing anyone any good or absorbed. It is absolutely too big a molecule to do anything topically. All those skin creams etc touting collagen aren't doing a darn thing but moisturize. I do take it, but honestly, I am not convinced it does anything for me. I think it might...might..be helping my skin and hair. In order to maximize absorption I take it on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. I mix it 1 tablespoon collagen hydrolsate into 2 cups of warm water with some vitamin C powder. Vitamin C is supposed to help with absorption. Then I don't have anything else for at least half an hour. 1 Quote
StaceyinLA Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Well I bought a big jug and figured if I don't see some difference by the time I'm through with it, I won't buy another. It can't hurt me I don't guess. ;-p I have been putting it in my coffee, which I do drink first thing. I may try the putting it in water with Vitamin C powder - I'll have to get some Vitamin C powder. I try to take a LOT of Vitamin C because big doses are supposed to help with heart health, but it makes me sick to take supplements on an empty stomach. Quote
