goldberry Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 DD started College English (DE at comm college) this week and didn't remember what a preposition was. She is a math and science kid and we sucked at english. I'm terrified. Thankfully she has three friends who are really strong in english and will be tutoring her. Fingers crossed. Just sharing my fear and shame.... 1 Quote
theelfqueen Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Get her a copy of "The Blue Book" or Strunk for reference? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 2 Quote
Meriwether Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Preposition: anywhere a mouse can go - behind, in, up, between. It doesn't cover all of them, of course. 1 Quote
importswim Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I got through most of college not fully understanding what a preposition was and I was a straight A, AP student. HA! Hugs to you. I think this is one of those times I'd have to take a deep breath and realize that I've taught them HOW to look up something that they don't know/understand and really teaching them to learn for themselves when they don't remember IS one of the main things I wanted them to learn. Sounds like she's doing this. Finding friends to help certainly qualifies as figuring out how to learn! I'm sure you did a great job, Mama, no shame needed. 2 Quote

Amen! Thanks for that... Quote
