I'm 43 so I need all the help. When I had Dd I think I took Rainbow Light but that was so long ago, and I was young and worry-free. I should have been doing this months ago when I first posted about advanced maternal pregnancy, but everything was put on hold because of DCIS. Now that it has been removed, I can refocus my efforts. I want to take DHEA but for estrogen positive DCIS I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Anyway one step at a time, so first the prenatal just to make sure I have the right nutrients in me.

rainbow light is a good brand.

brands I trust (and rec'd by my and dudelings NDs) are:

thorne

pure encapsulations

douglas laboratories

integrative theraputics

I also like emerald laboratories.

you'd have to read the ingredients to see if they have what you want.  you can take a separate supplement for the dhea.

If you have digestion or absorption issues, I recommend Thorne. It's the only prenatal that I know of that has the folate and other b vitamins sources for people who can't make the coversions or have MTHFR. Also, all the vitamin sources are high quality, bioavailabe sources and do not compare to most of the junk out there.

Honest Company brand has methylated folate as well, and comes in a one a day for those of that that can's swallow so many pills.

Another good option is the prenatal pack from metagenics.

That said, with morning sickness right now, all I can tolerate are my bariatric chewable vitamins. But I made it through the most critical time for folate with the Honest Company ones. On really bad days, i took just a methylfolate pill, all by itself, as it was tiny and tasteless.

The folate is good but the b6 and b12 sources are cheap and necessarily not great for those with GI issues. Probably fine for a healthy person. Just wanted to put that out there for folks who deal with fatigue and intestinal issues.

I'd be inclined to go with Thorne or similar good quality brand that has a natural folate rather than folic acid.  It's my pet issue lately with regard to a lot of things that boil down to mthfr.  In my reading, I also came across something about folic acid and cancer, though I don't remember whether the same applies to natural folate.  ETA, I'd look very closely at that whole angle for your situation.

Op, are you already pregnant? I didn't have much morning sickness, but I believe the most critical time to be taking a prenatal vitamin is preconception. The egg health and nutrient content of the uterine lining are super important during the earliest, most critical development. March of Dimes has good research sources about this type of stuff on their website. I feel that if you're too sick to take a good prenatal the first trimester, you're probably just fine if you've done some preconception care and then start taking something again when the MS subsides. Katie posted a good plan for someone with not too severe MS.

No, not pregnant yet, so I have time to take a prenatal. I already take vitamins, but I'm sure not everything is included.

Part of the problem is that I still need to see a medical oncologist, but I'll be declining tamoxifen.
