SemiSweet Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I'm about to wrap up my bachelors degree and will be applying for grad school for next fall. Working through my BA and schooling and life has been relatively easy, but grad school won't be online, and it's 3 classes a semester. I don't think I can keep up with it. The two oldest will be going into 7th and 9th grades. It feels like the end of an era and I'm struggling a little but I feel like at this point it's best for the family and for me. We may bring them back home or do a charter when we move back to Hawaii but that'll be a couple years. No real point to this post, just some commiseration. Advice from anyone btdt? They were public schooled until 2nd and 4th and did just fine, so while I worry, I do think they'll do well, especially my very social dd. Quote
DawnM Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Mine are all going to school this year. Last year I had one in Community College and one in a charter school. This year oldest will go to CC, middle and youngest will go to our local PS. I am going back to work! It is the right time. I am actually really excited about it. 1 Quote
Jan in SC Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 My 8th and 9th grade are going to school this year. I'll still have my 10th grader at home, but he's taking all online classes. Honestly, I'm excited. I'm ready to cheer and just help with homework. They are a little nervous, but so excited. I hope your transition goes really well! 1 Quote
displace Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 We're starting public school again now and I'm nervous, excited, scared, nervous, and nervous. Hope all goes well! 1 Quote

I think I'll be more nervous than them! I'd probably send them back this year but we've made some plans that would interfere with the school year. I think I'll try to make this last year extra rich, with lots of field trips and rabbit trails. 1 Quote
AppleGreen Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 It's strange, but I am seeing an end to my days in this role. My oldest is off to school this year, my rising 7th and 5th graders have been saying for years they are going to public school for high school, so while it isn't happening right now or even for a couple of years, I have a feeling the landscape will shift rapidly in the next couple of years. Hope your kiddos have a great year and grad school is awesome for you! 1 Quote
