Ds12 is the latest one to get struck down with the cold. Most of math and reader done. He didn't get anything else done.

Parent teacher interview for twins - we keep close contact so there was no surprise information. Her assessment are exactly the same as all other professionals. Functioning across the board as a three year old. This includes fine and gross motor, development and social skills.

I'm going to join in today - I've been away most of the summer but this thread kept me going in the past...

Unfortunately, there are live Olympic games to watch, but I'll do my best.

Vacuum and wash basement floor

Clean basement bathroom

Various loads of laundry - an ongoing task

Vacuum and wash kitchen floor (dh was complaining of something sticky, but I've been away for 2 weeks so?)

Unload and reload the dishwasher and clean rest of kitchen

Bank appt to set up account for younger ds (he just got a job!)

Pick up older ds and others from airport

Dinner - HelloFresh delivery today - last one, probably, since I'm not working anymore

Pick up all the junk lying around - too much (dh is going to lose it!)

My kids have a morning camp about 20 minutes away, and an afternoon camp 10 minutes from there.  I have a young woman lined up to drive them from camp A to camp B.  However, wouldn't you know it, I just found out Camp B needs a signed waiver.  Supposedly the stuff they will be doing in the science camp "could be dangerous."

So I called Camp B and they said I could fax it to them.  Of course my fax does not work today.  So they gave me an email address.  I emailed it, and asked for a reply when they receive it, but no reply.  I will call later - hate to have to nag, but whatcha gonna do?  So then I emailed it to my driver, who probably won't have access to a printer anyway, but whatever.  Why can't anything just be easy?

So my client emergency of the week - my colleagues think we should have daily conference calls - which look likely to happen around the time I am dropping off / picking up my kids.  Did I mention I hate conference calls?  Why can't people just do email?  Why??

On the positive side, it looks like I have the house to myself today.  I already got some housework and laundry done, yay!  I wish I could just do that all day ....

Monday!

My in laws are here.  I am doing my best to have a good attitude, but it's already hard.  I don't know if I can survive the week.  My MIL stays up really late to talk and read.  My FIL is up early.  So, I was up later than I wanted to be last night, and when I got up at 6:30 to make a lunch and breakfast for my dh, his dad was sitting right there in the kitchen.  He had a big GOOD MORNING for me as I walked in.  ggrrrrrrr.  I don't like to even talk that early in the morning.

Okay.  I still have stuff to do, even if I am in a bad mood...

lunch for dh

dd to work

laundry wash, fold, put away

take a load to Goodwill

try to find missing file box

and missing photos.

quick bathroom wipe down

tidy up upstairs hallway

take inlaws on a nice drive? or to dd's work?

help dd start on summer assignments for APUSH

make a decision about soccer

attend parent meeting at 6pm

dinner - pasta, bread, salad

be nice

Checking in from Panera.  My car is being serviced - my annual big servicing before camp.

Human care including a quick shower done

Pet care done

Medical care done

Dh out the door

Dd dropped off at camp.  It is cold and gray today and the poor girl is going to a water park!

Ds dropped off at work.

I dropped the car off at the repair shop.

I checked in at the doctor's (just a quick walk down the road from the repair shop) to make sure that the kids' immunizations are up to date.

I got my walk in walking over to the mall for free wi-fi.

The park as fun, grocery trip planning and the actual trip are done, and the downstairs just needs to be vacuumed. Time to get ready for my afternoon pet sitting and I gotta get laundry started seeing as I forgot about it this morning.

Do you pet sit in your home or go to see them?

Go to see them. I do pet sit in my home for a few select clients because I've known their dogs for years and know how well behaved they are. But the majority is in their home either a few visits a day or overnight. The overnights are my favorite because I get uninterrupted sleep since the kids aren't with me.

I am so tired and quite behind on everything I wanted to do today. Heading out for last pet sitting of the night, then kids need to clean their room before bed, and once they're in bed I'm pulling out clothes bins. Laundry will gey folded once dh gets home because he'll do all the hanging as I fold

That sounds heavenly.   No kids with you and you get paid to sleep.

I love animals and have always wanted to pet sit or dog walk.  Maybe I should try and see if there are any takers.   You do that and ebay too?

That is awesome.

I really would like to start making a bit of money to help out.  It is neat to hear what other moms are doing.

I started pet sitting as a senior in highschool and continued part-time through college. I stopped advertising once I had my first child but clients still refer people to me regularly. It is a great part-time job because it can be as much or as little work as I want. It is also nice because I can bring the kids with me once I know the personalities of the animals and of course if the owners are ok with that, which no one has ever not been ok with it.

I sell mostly on local consignment sites but also amazon and eBay. That is a skill I learned from my mother as she had book business on Amazon for as long as they've had 3rd party sellers.

All the money I make goes towards our fun activities or in savings.

That is so awesome.  Do you homeschool too?  I know some people do and some don't on here.

Do you go to thrift stores and find things to sell then?

I would love to pet sit.  I really would.  I should try it.

Yes, I homeschool as well. My kids are young though. I have a 2nd grader and 1st grader this year, with 2 younger siblings along for the ride. Oh and a 5th coming in January. Our school day lasts about 2 hours. That gets done right before and after breakfast. I do my morning pet sitting before breakfast when dh is still home. After those 2 hours we read throughout the day and they just learn while doing what they like.

I don't really do enough pet sitting for it to interfere with our home schooling. Most of my pet sitting is around the holidays and in the summer. For example, this week I'm at 4 different houses but come September I'll be done until right before Christmas. With the exception of an impromptu long weekend here or there.

Yes, I go to thrift stores and find stuff. My specialties are books, kid's clothes, and toys. But I also have a wide selection of friends who offer me stuff they're done with to keep what I need and sell the rest.

Congrats on #5.  I don't know if I told you that before.   I have 5 here as well.

Your pet sitting job sounds perfect.  So flexible, which I think is key.  It is so great you are able to do all this and hs too.  Do you pet sit just dogs and cats?

Just thinking of doing this, how much would you suggest charging?  Do you do a flat fee for the day?  Each time you visit?  I have no idea price range what one should charge for doing this.

I have wanted to try selling stuff, but I haven't had much luck.  I decided to start with my own stuff.  We have soooo many clothes.  And they just have not sold at all.  Bummer.  I know Ebay is slow in the summer.  But still.  I have had luck with other stuff from around the house.   But I don't know about trying to make money at it.

I follow blogs of people who do and make money at it.

I am not motivated to do my work.  :/  It's boring!  And I hate having to jump in response to a crisis created by some fool.  :/  I wish I was one of those people who do a nice steady amount of work every day and then go relax.  I am just not wired that way.

I picked up the kids from Camp B a little late, then got stuck in a traffic jam on the way home.  I would have liked to let the kids go swimming after, but I could not get away from work, and unfortunately they are not allowed to hang at the rec center without a parent.  :/  So they sat around all evening, doing some computer work, sneaking snacks, dissing dinner, and watching TV.  I did sneak in a read-aloud chapter at bedtime.

I can say the kids' day was productive.  Between camps, car audiobook, and homework, they did about 8 hours of math, reading, science, and history.  My kids have been more productive than I've been today.

Thank you! We're excited for number 5.

I do mostly cats and dogs but also have experience with farm animals, birds, and reptiles. As far as charging, I charge per visit and they pick the length of the visit either 15, 30, or an hour. The rate changes depending on how far away they are from me. But for someone close by I charge $12 for 15 minutes, $15 for 30 minutes, and $20 for an hour. For overnight visits at their house I charge $50 for the night and then an additional 10 for an afternoon visit. In my home siting is $32 because it is so much more convenient for me to not have to drive to a house multiple times a day. I could charge a bit more but I really like being affordable for the type of clients I get because they are so awesome and generally pay me more by leaving things fore to bring home. Like ones woman would always leave me bags of organic snacks, she was a distributor and had tons of samples in her basement. Another woman gave me hundreds of dollars worth of lego robotics stuff, ds systems and games that I kept what I wanted and sold the rest. You'll have to figure out what your area prices are by doing some research. Ask vet tech because they routinely pet sit for clients as additional income.

I don't do clothes on eBay unless it is something quite valuable that I can't sell locally. I sell kids clothes on a local Facebook consignment site. I sell things like Legos, videogames, and unique items on eBay. Like no one locally wanted the wooden marble run I found at Goodwill but it sold for $100 on eBay. New it is over $200. Most wooden toys don't sell locally because everyone is looking for the new hot toy or things like Legos. But I've had a lot of success with selling wooden toys on eBay.
