Because Rod and Staff is so advanced in their subjects would it be sufficient to use their Grade 7 Understanding the Old World ( world history) for grade 9 with added literature and writing assignments to equal a high school  history credit?

Except for English which can be considered one year ahead in some states but not others (if one is comparing with public school standards), I've never heard of R&S being considered advanced at all in other subjects.

I know for college admissions purposes, you might want to be careful about using materials for high school that are designated by the publisher to be intended for younger students; the credit for the course could be called into question.

I've been looking at samples of Understanding the Old World at milestonebooks.com (a R&S dealer), and in my opinion this is a firmly logic-stage textbook; the publisher got it right. One way I am judging that is by comparing it to Story of the World volume 4 -- the complexity of ideas is at a comparable level, and the study questions are about comprehension and synthesis but not analysis. Also, it would appear that the only primary source work recommended (or required) is the Bible. I would not use this text for high school.

I'd be careful about using something for high school that the publisher says is grade 7.

I have no problem using a mix of things (some aimed at younger) to create a high school course. If you want to use R&S's history for high school, you certainly can, but I wouldn't say it is because it is "advanced".
