Emba Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Okay, I am not athletic, not interested in sports, and don't follow the Olympics much, especially since we do not have cable or network TV. We have a TV, but all it does is play DVDs. BUT I just found and out taekwondo isin the summer Olympics, and my kids are in taekwondo, so I would like to find a way for them to watch some of it. We can go to my in-laws' house to watch, or watch online if that is a available. How do I find out the schedule for these sorts of things? Quote
SounderChick Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Nbc.olympics.com is probably where you want to look. 1 Quote

creekland Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Here's your full Olympic schedule: https://www.rio2016.com/en/schedule-and-results NBC is notorious for very poor Olympic coverage, esp of minor sports and I doubt they will change much this year TBH. We long ago gave up watching them and use Tunnel Bear (google it) to pretend we're in a different country (usually the UK, but sometimes others). Then we can watch their coverage on our computers (if we pay for the coverage for the month). The UK usually has many/most sports one can watch live - every single competitor. They also tape them so you can watch them later - pretending they are live - if you like. NBC likes to skip many competitors they feel are unimportant. One year they didn't even show anything live, but I think they've switched from that at least. Who knows. They lost me as a viewer long ago. Someone can correct me if NBC plans to change this year, but they haven't in the past, so I've no expectations for anything different. 2 Quote
creekland Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Yes... just quickly comparing what's happening, Taekwondo starts on Aug 17th at 9am. NBC plans to run it on TV as part of their coverage at 3:15pm and 11pm that day. You will only get summaries and a handful of competitors at best - not much, if any, live. Quote
creekland Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 See? They couldn't even cover the Opening Ceremonies live... then threw commercials in skipping what they thought was unimportant I suppose. Thank you Tunnel Bear - and CBC (Canada). (Though CBC had commercials - there weren't nearly as many at least - and it was LIVE coverage. Next time we'll probably go back to BBC, but this time there were so many watching BBC we couldn't get a good connection - sigh.) Quote
