butterfly113 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Are all SAT and ACT scores automatically sent to colleges being applied to along with the Common Application? When taking the SAT and ACT tests, is it required to include specific college codes? What if the student isn't sure at that point? What if the student wants to see how they score, and then submit scores...? Will all scores be sent, or can you chose which to send? Is the common application one which transcends across all schools? Or does it vary for various schools? Can the common application begin to be completed in junior year, and then updated as the student progress, or is it a one time submission that "stays on file" ? GailV Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) You can send ACT scores after you receive them, but you'll have to pay extra to do that. You can also not bother sending the scores anywhere -- both of my kids have done that with their first time taking the ACT since it was sophomore year and they were still very unsure where they wanted scores sent at that point. The ACT scores are handled by a different organization than the Common App. --- Edited to add that that means you'll have to take charge of letting ACT know where you want the scores sent rather than relying on the Common App folks to do it. The Common App doesn't go to every single school in the U.S. -- some schools don't use it. However, it does cover many -- all 5 or 6 schools older dd applied to were via the Common App, so it was a handy way to apply several places at once. I seem to recall that certain schools might have specific essays or questions on the Common App, so much of it is "common" but parts are specific to the school (it's possible that I'm remembering this wrong, though, since I've only done it once and that was 3 years ago). Lilaclady Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 You can request and send scores to 4 schools with the SAT for free but you have to call I think about 2 weeks after the exam. It is usually at least 2 weeks or more before the results are released. After that you will have to pay for each score to be sent. Quote
