Abbysfriend Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Hadn't tried to sell on here for awhile and the new classified ad system is awful....not one single sale! I used to be able to create a listing with a thread and everything sold within a couple of weeks. Anyone else have this issue? They need to change it back! LOL, like I don't think that will happen, just venting I guess. My friend said she sold everything on the homeschool classifieds in a few days, so I guess that's what I will have to do...any helpful suggestions out there? I have a lot of really nice bigger ticket items, like Teaching Textbooks, Apologia, IEW 2 Quote
shawthorne44 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 It isn't very good for buying either. 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I love these boards, but homeschool classifieds is far better for buying and selling. Exceptions would be things that are popular here, but not huge in the broader homeschooling community, e.g. Right Start math. Posting to sell here, I do better with individual ads for each thing. shawthorne44 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I do find that annoying when a bunch of stuff is listed in the same ad. 2 Quote
domestic_engineer Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I think that in general, all the WTM boards - not just the classifieds - are moving slower than in years past. Quote
shawthorne44 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 How did the classified's here work when stuff got sold? Anyone know why it was changed? Quote
domestic_engineer Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 How did the classified's here work when stuff got sold? Anyone know why it was changed? It used to be like the other forum threads ... where you posted & bumped all in one thread. Compared to now, where it's more of a selling platform with price as a field is mandated and people don't ask questions, etc. I think it was changed when the whole forum platform/format changed. I don't know why it changed. 1 Quote
Mom22ns Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I miss the old WTM classifieds terribly. I finished homeschooling in May and I've been gradually listing the stuff I need to clean out. I've sold a few things, but it is slow. I used to always sell everything fast. I always liked buying/selling at WTM because it felt like I was working with people I knew and trusted. I was always more nervous buying/selling anywhere else. Now there are fewer listings, fewer buyers and the whole system is slow and cumbersome. It was a huge loss from my perspective. It was changed when the format change happened. The new software had a classifieds section built in and they adopted it. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time. 1 Quote
momee Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I keep getting booted out, so they aren't working for me - at all! Says I'm not logged in, but I am. Quote

I don't know why it changed. I can see how that would work better. I don't go there that often. But I always have in the back of my mind things I'd like that I don't need Right Now. But, if I saw something at a good price in the new content, I'd buy it now. For example, I like Sonlight/Bookshark books. I'd like to buy a Core. But it seems that I have similar taste so when I get ready to buy a Core, I realize that I already have many of the books already. I don't fret Too much since guaranteed I got them cheaply, so I patch together the rest of the books. That has happened for P3/4, P4/5 and K. So, if I saw the next level, is that B?, for a good price on here I'd snap it up. But, as it is, I don't go looking for anything until I am ready to buy it, and I can't wait months for one to pop-up. G5052 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) I've sold about 1/2 of what I've listed here, but I usually list multiple places. I sold two sets here this summer that I thought would be hard to sell, but they went pretty quickly. They didn't move at all elsewhere. My favorite place is always Amazon -- they collect the $, I print the postage there, and put it out for my mailman. It stays up without my attention. I sold a book in the spring that I had listed for over a year. I have some things on eBay now with some bids. I list groups of books that go together there. Edited August 4, 2016 by G5052 Quote
emmaluv+2more Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I haven't sold anything here in years. Everything I have sold is through Homeschool Classifieds, even though I have everything listed on several sites. Quote
Peaceful Isle Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I sold a lot of my curriculum last month on eBay. I tried to post some items here in the past, but it is super hard to get anyone interested. Quote
JudoMom Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 They are awful. I liked the old system where it was a forum that showed up with regular posts. I wish they'd make it so listings showed up in New Content. Quote
TKDmom Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I keep getting booted out, so they aren't working for me - at all! Says I'm not logged in, but I am. We were just talking about this on the site news forum. Try clearing your browser's cache. It worked for me. Not for some others, but it's worth a try. Quote
shawthorne44 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Sooo, anyone want to volunteer to suggest that to our fearless leader? Quote
