How did you split up the week?

 

I am using the 8th grade English, and I already know that 16 vocab words each week (definitions and sentences) will be too much for my son.

Not that I am dealing with this...BUT..how about going through the list and have him verbally tell you what each mean. If he can do it, mark that word as done. Whatever words are left, he can look up the word and then use it in a sentence where it is obvious that he knows what is means. That will be way less writing and way less time.
