Tiramisu Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I've been using Modern Speller and love it. And we've been using HWOT cursive. My original plan this year was to spend a few months on the last HWOT cursive book, and then have dd do Modern Speller in cursive, which would require me to type it up in cursive so she could copy it. Then dd said she is ready to just do it in cursive at the start of the year. If I did that I'd be able to combine two goals into one and streamline our schedule a bit, but then I'd have to get going on putting the Modern Speller passages into cursive right away. What do I need to know about Startwrite before I commit to this plan? I did some searching and see there are other options but they either don't offer the HWOT font or are more expensive. If I had to, I'd be willing to try a very simplified modern cursive font. Quote
OneStepAtATime Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) I love start write but I used version 5. I didn't like version 6 and then it stopped working so I stopped using it. What do you want to know? I can try to help. Version 5 was super simple. I spent maybe 30 minutes getting to know the various ways you could type something up then just typed up whatever we needed. You can type it with guiding arrows or dots or full print or many other options. You can have guided lines like kindergarten tablet paper or no guided lines. Lines can be wide or narrow and everything in between. Honestly as long as they have the font you need the program offers endless possibilities. Version 6 didn't seem as user friendly to me but I admit I didn't give it much of a chance. Edited August 1, 2016 by OneStepAtATime 1 Quote

Did you buy the CD or do the download. 1 Quote
Jackie Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I like StartWrite and use it for our cursive copywork. It works well. 1 Quote
