if you are on NDT or have low adrenal function - what's your experience? do you have a good adrenal support/rx?

I'm waiting for a return on bloodwork. I'm currently on 1 1/2 grains (I know that's low I assume she'll have me go higher, and I'm adding 1/2 grain starting today), but I'm also taking gaia adrenal support (dr. approved, though earlier than she would have had me starting) as I was totally dysfunctional on 1 1/2 grains. the biggest symptom I'm having, I'm not sure if it's from hypo- or adrenal.

from reading - poor adrenal function changes the way NDT can be raised. while we haven't done the 24hr saliva test yet, I assume it's coming.     from my readings (and my dd's), my poor adrenal function probably goes back to my teenage years (if not earlier) and preceded the hypothyroid.

How are your labs looking?

If you have adrenal issues it could be that you need to add in more T3 and not NDT. I tried raising from 1.5 grains to 2 and it was not good, I felt wretched I knew that I was still hypo, well I found out that my RT3 was really high, I wasn't converting. I cut my NDT back to 1 grain and started adding back in more T3, I'm now on 1 grain NDT, 2 grains Cyto(generic- 50 mcg) +5mcg. After that change my labs were picture perfect.

My first adrenal test just showed low on the morning and noon, perfect after dinner and bed. My last one showed my morning a bit better, noon a bit worse, really high in the afternoon and a bit high at bed. I'd tried some different things for my adrenal but it all just made it worse.

Now I'm doing Holy Basil and Seriphos at night to bring down my highs and although it has taken a bit to get lined it seems to be helping. I'm still more tired in the afternoon when my worse lows were but my energy is more steady. I'm planning a retest in August and hoping I'm finally getting it all lined out, it is hard w/ multiple issues.

I've had adrenal issues for nine years. It's been a few years since my last 24 cortisol test. I have tried so many supplements over the years and most didn't seem to help.

Dietary changes have, by far, seemed to make the biggest difference. While I am not all better yet, and still have a ridiculous routine I need to follow to sleep well, I am feeling better this summer than I have in nine years.

I started the NDT in june.  I just had a blood draw for the labs.  so, I'm waiting for the latest results.

before that, I had been on synthetic t4 (taking weekends off) and an OTC bovine ndt (which made heaps of improvement over the t4 only). My labs on the later combination had tsh and ft4 just outside optimum ranges, but the t3 was still quite low.

and I e-mailed my dr about the side-effect concerning me most asking for suggestions - and she's out of town at a conference.  I hope she's able to check her e-mails tonight and give me a suggestion.

the OTC adrenal support supplement I'm on has the holy basil leaf and one other. . .but I really couldn't wait for her to test my cortisol to do something.   Interestingly, I tried adrenal support when I was on a t4 only, and it was . . weird.  so, I stopped.
