umsami
So, it's official, love her or hate her, we finally have the first woman candidate for President of the United States from a major party. (Not saying anything else....that can go in politics.) This is a historic day.... July 26, 2016. I hope that there are many more to come and that women finally make up a larger part of Congress....because to be honest, the US is pretty disgraceful in that regard. http://www.ipu.org/wmn-e/classif.htm
Pippen
Political beliefs totally aside, I have to say I was unexpectedly moved while watching that historic moment. Edited July 26, 2016 by Pippen

umsami
Yes, if anybody knows me or is in the politics thread, they probably know how I feel about her. I was still very moved and am taking the kids out for ice cream (sundaes even if they want them). I don't think they get how historic this is, just as I didn't understand what a big deal Geraldine Ferraro was. I hope they'll remember, though, that their Mom thought it was a big deal even if she had a different car magnet on her car.

OneStepAtATime
Yes, a very historic moment. A step forward, regardless of how anyone feels about the specific candidate.

umsami
We got out some sparklers too that I had bought at the Dollar Store before 4th of July and forgot about. DS1 nicknamed today "Girl Power Day". I like that. :)

Melissa in Australia
We have had a female prime minister and trust me they are still a stupid politician, just like the male ones.
