mamakelly Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 We don't have cable and I don't want to get it, just for the Olympics. We have connected an antenna box to our to before, but we have a new smart tv that doesn't connect to the old box. Any ideas? Quote
hornblower Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 We watched online one year. Whatever network bought broadcast rights usually streams it. Quote
Liz CA Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Tunnelbear allows you to appear as if you are in another country with that country's IP address and you can often find channels in other countries that will broadcast. We like BBC and some of the Canadian channels. Tunnelbear can be downloaded online and costs about $5.00 a month. You can cancel any time. 1 Quote
Chris in VA Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Can't you just watch NBC? You won't see every bit, but the Olympics are just on broadcast, regular TV. Can you get that? Quote
gingersmom Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 You can buy indoor antenna on Amazon and get all network stations. They just plug into your tv. Quote
sgo95 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 How about Sling TV? Sling Blue + World News Extra ($30/mo) will stream most of the channels the Olympics will be on. Quote
UCF612 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 We can't get NBC on our antenna. We can watch the NBC sports app on the roku but it can be fickle. The Olympics are my favorite thing ever so we tried getting Sling TV bc it said they offered NBC. Thankfully we did the free trial and realized NBC is not available in our area on there either! So we ended up signing up for a limited cable thing that does include NBC and is not a contract. It is $20/mth through the same company that does our internet. We will cancel as soon as the Olympics are over. Quote

He has a low tolerance for things that are a PITA, so there is possibly a way to do it, but the hassle factor would outweigh any potential benefits. Quote
skimomma Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 We have used Tunnel Bear to watch BBC online as well. It has MUCH better and balanced coverage without as much hokey commentary and commercials. I will never go back. $5 is well worth the cost and you can cancel any time. 1 Quote
deBij Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Are you able to access the Canadian broadcast? http://olympics.cbc.ca Quote
Stacia Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Thank you for the info on TunnelBear. We did the one-month sign-up & have been watching the BBC coverage. Awesome! ETA: If you're wondering about it, it is super-easy to sign-up & set-up. Had it loaded & watching in just minutes. Edited August 7, 2016 by Stacia 1 Quote
