DawnM
I wear earrings rarely. My ears are so sensitive. I have to put neosporen on them or soak them in hydrogen peroxide and even then, my early can't take them for more than a few hours, if that. What can I get? Hypo-allergenic don't work, stainless seems to cause irritation, although silver is not my color, I prefer gold or a color. Is there anything I can wear that doesn't cost a lot? DawnM
Oh, and I think someone here recommended Simply Whispers and those didn't seem to work either.
Chris in VA
Well, gold seems to be the least irritating. Sorry! Are you allergic to nickel? I know some swear by painting posts with clear nail polish (not gold posts). Edited July 21, 2016 by Chris in VA

amsunshine
I recommend you go to an allergist to get a scratch test for metal allergies. For the longest time, my dd was having trouble with her earrings and the dermatologist swore up and down it was nickel allergy. I kept buying her good quality 14K gold earrings. Finally, when nothing seemed to be working, I took her to an allergist. Turns out, she is allergic to gold. :confused1: I regretted not taking her to the allergist in the first place.
Caroline
I can only wear gold for any length of time. I can't even wear sterling for more than a couple of hours.
helena
I worked in a bead shop for years. I had customers bring in earrings to be converted from metal fish hooks to plastic ones. You can't do it if the post is soldered on... It's an enexpensive solution if you own a pair of needle nose pliers. It might be worth checking out.
bolt.
Surgical steel, or basically the ones they use for pricing itself, are the only ones that work for me.
zoobie
Have you tried Titanium?
raindrops
I can only wear gold, and not sterling. I can wear titanium watches without irritation.
DawnM
Have you tried Titanium? No, but I just ordered a pair, so I will see if that works.
DawnM
I don't really know what is irritating them.

I can only do silver or gold. Anything else I can only wear for a few hours too and my ears get irritated. I prefer silver so that's all I wear. I love earrings, necklaces and bracelets not so much. Have you looked on Amazon for gold earring? I've been able to score some pretty but inexpensive jewelry there. Also Walmart has been great too and has a decent silver selection. When I used to wear gold, I shopped there too.

Maybe I should get a set and put my own design on the end and see if that works
Ottakee
I had similar issues. I ended up at the local tattoo parlor and bought a set of diamond look stud earrings there for under $20 and have had NO issues at all.
TravelingChris
You can be allergic to silver and gold too.
purplejackmama
Diamond studs. Only option. Send me your hubby's email, I'll be the "Dr" and write a script ;)
frugalmamatx
Try Simply Whispers earrings. They are the only truly hypoallergic earrings I have found - a lot of the ones sold in regular stores have nickel in the backs still and would cause issues for me.

I have tried them. They were just as bad. And they were flimsy to boot.
