There is an online test for unconscious bias.   I thought it was fascinating.   It is based on reaction times, so you can't fake an answer.  It was hosted by some university.  The setup is that they display words one at a time, for the first round if the word is related to White or Good you push a button on the left side.   If the word is related to Black or Bad you push a button on the right side.   Then the next round it tells you to push the left button if the word is related to Black or Good, and right button for White or Bad.   There were four rounds I think.   

 

I was neutral on that test.   But, I do have one bias that I won't name, but it was hard to force my finger to press the correct button when the words were paired up "wrong" in my brain.    

 

I had trouble with the Foreign bias one.  But, that was because they used the Seattle Needle image a lot for American, and the Needle isn't a big deal to me.  So, I kept seeing a tall thing, and thinking it was the Eiffel tower.   Wrong answers slow you down.

shawthorne, that sounds like it may have been the Implicit Association Test, developed by researchers at Harvard?

 

If so, I agree... very eye-opening.  Super-stressful in the moment and sobering, thereafter.
