Bettyk Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Hi! This is my very first post! I am a long time lurker here on the forums, but have never posted before. We have been homeschooling for 12 years now. I have gained so much insight here and am very grateful for these boards. I have a question about the SAT. My 11th grader scored very well on the English portion of the SAT. However, her math score was only 530. Is this reason enough to have her retake the SAT? She only studied for about a month prior to the June test. She is still unsure what she wants to major in in college, but she will probably be attending the local university. If I don't have her retake it will there be any other repercussions besides just having the low score on her records? Thank you so much for any advice you may have :) Quote
KarenNC Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Personally, I would, particularly as lots of colleges superscore the SAT (taking the highest individual section scores from different sittings and combining them to get the highest combined score). Quote
amsunshine Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Yes, I would have her do some intensive studying, either with a tutor or through some other prep program you choose, and retake. Quote
Bettyk Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 Thank you for your thoughts. It helps to have confirmation of what I was thinking. Quote
