Prairie~Phlox Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I'm just wanting to generate more FB page likes, I'm doing a giveaway to kick start things. I'd like to share it, but don't want to if not allowed. Quote
Ethel Mertz Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Here's what the forum guidelines say: No advertising If you are the publisher or author of home schooling (or other) materials, or have a financial interest in a particular program, you may answer direct questions about those materials but don't use a general query ("What science/language arts/history materials should I use?") as a chance to promote your product. When these questions are posed, we hope that parents will hear from other parents not from those who may have a vested interest in the use of a particular program. That's my best guess. Quote
Prairie~Phlox Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 So only homeschooling stuff? Mine isn't homeschooling related. Quote
happi duck Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Just from my own observations... It seems like within the context of chatting stuff can be mentioned but not just advertised. I seem to remember "giveaway on my blog" posts being removed/against the rules. But I also remember threads helping name businesses, giving editing advice on websites etc. I think links in siggys are fine, iirc. (I'm on my phone and can't see if you have a link or not) Good luck! Quote
Ethel Mertz Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I don't know. You could PM SWB to find out for sure or post on the sub-forum site news. Your home business might fall under the parenthetical "or other" in the guidelines. Quote

I read that as "No advertising OF ANYTHING, AND IN ADDITION, if you are the publisher or author of homeschooling or other materials etc..." While I wish prosperity on all of the business owners here, I really don't want to see posts promoting businesses, home, homeschool, or other. 1 Quote
Susan Wise Bauer Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Yeah, no advertising businesses, period. Sorry. But we don't want to open the floodgates. Here's a thought, though--I could see points in putting up a separate board just for people to advertise their home businesses. That way, anyone who's interested can go visit it, and those who aren't can stay away. What say you, Hive? Quote

TravelingChris Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I would like that and I don't have any business nor do I plan to have one. But someone here may have a business that has things I want and I would love supporting other boardies. 1 Quote

mommymonster Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I love to support small businesses, and if they are homeschool families, all the better! SWB, your idea is awesome. 3 Quote

goldberry Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 In favor of giving boardies a place to talk about/share their business! I would love to see that! 1 Quote
Calm37 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I think I remember having to meet a 50 post requirement for the sales board. Perhaps people could qualify that way? 2 Quote
