Janeway
I picked up a MOH book the other day, volume 3. I only got to glance at it, read about a page or two. The reading looked very interesting, like it would be enjoyable. BUT, is it any better than other sources? I did not get to see much. I have so many books already, I would hate to add something redundant. Oldest child is using Notgrass in his outsourced class. I guess I sort of worry about Notgrass as some people here have called it Nutgrass. I also saw some books by Spievogel? Called "Westen Civilization." But it was not the new Pearson learning book that others here have suggested. Apparently, these copies came from a bible college. But they looked good too. Again, I did not get much chance to look. MerryAtHope
If what you already have is working, I probably would pass on it. Having said that, we really liked MOH here. I wouldn't like it as a supplement, but enjoyed it as a spine to build a course around (we always added on some biographies & historical fiction because we like that approach).
Julie of KY
If what you are doing for history is working, then I wouldn't worry about it. I do like Merry does and use MOH as a spine and then add discussion and other readings as my kids are interested.
Brad S
Spielvogel has several books including "Western Civilization" and at least two distinct "World History" books in various editions. The two World History books are described in this thread with links to more info. if that short summary isn't enough.

It is not so much that it is working as it is that he is using it from an outsourced class. I have not even read the books. I need to take one of his shelf and actually read it. But I have younger children I would use and keep MOH for.
MerryAtHope
Ah, that makes sense. If you're curious what we did, here's a link to my history posts (4 of the 5 are about combining MOH and Sonlight).
Loesje22000
MoH is a supplement in our home. It is easy to have readings a long our History textbook in one book. We don't like the assignments. I personnally do not like using 'history readings' as a 'spine', we consider it as valueble supplement though.

The part about Nutgrass struck me funny b/c I just posted something about Notgrass in another thread and the spell check changed it to Nutgrass. I wonder if that is what you have been seeing...people writing Notgrass but it being spell checked to Nutgrass and they didn't notice. Of course maybe you have seen actual complaints and people meaning to call it Nutgrass but I just thought it may be unintentional. :)
