MEmama Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Our state requires state studies every year for homeschoolers, but gives no indication what or how much to cover. Over the years we've done all the obvious field trips and some interesting in depth studies of our town, but I feel like next year (8th) we should have more of a focus. Really, I want something to show the high school if they request "proof" that we completed it (no idea if they will, I just want my bases covered). I think a quarter or semesters worth should be sufficient, understanding we can do a lot more in a shorter time than the ps (it isn't a dedicated yearly requirement in ps, for some reason). Does anyone have any age appropriate ideas or hits? Quote
Random Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Currclick is having its Pay What You Want Sale. Maybe there is something you would like there? I did a search on "Maine" and found lots of potential products. 1 Quote
Mona Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 You can find some state studies here: http://www.lampposthomeschool.com/social-studies/state-history/ I purchased our PA state history curriculum from here for elementary and High School. 1 Quote
Targhee Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 We did Natural and Cultural history of our state. Rather than doing chronological or political history. We did cover economics and natural resources as well. 1 Quote
SebastianCat Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 A research paper (or multiple papers) on Native American tribes in your area? Or maybe tie in to another subject like Economics by doing a research paper on the economic development of your state? 1 Quote
