Slache Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 My husband and I watched Game of Thrones for the first time last weekend and while we liked it we'd prefer to watch something that wouldn't raise too many questions if our kids walked in. Quote
Murphy101 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I couldn't stomach GoT, but I really like Vikings. 3 Quote
Lady Florida. Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 We like GoT but our kiddo is 18. I agree with Murphy that Vikings is close, but with not as much sex or nudity. If you want something more cerebral and more historically correct (but with a lot less action), try Wolf Hall. 2 Quote
MercyA Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) I'd recommend Firefly as an all-around awesome show, but I think you said you've already seen it, and of course it's sci-fi/western instead of medieval. The rest of these suggestions are from my husband: If it's the political intrigue and battles you like, you might try the new Battlestar Galactica (obviously not medieval). Legend of the Seeker is medieval but very campy as opposed to gritty. Have you seen Grimm? It gets better after the first season. It's campy. It's not medieval, but occasionally features some medieval weaponry! Breaking Bad is none of the above, but is better than any of the other shows. :D p.s. (From me again.) Your whole30 thread did annoy me ever so slightly, so you accomplished one of your objectives. ;) Hope baby is doing well! Edited July 13, 2016 by MercyA 1 Quote
Lady Florida. Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 If you really like Game of Thrones is watching it when they're asleep an option? Or are you too tired by then? :) 1 Quote
Murphy101 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 We really enjoyed legend of the seeker until they introduced the Dominatrix women. Uhh. No. Not interested in watching that ourselves and for sure not interested in explaining it to the kids of any age. 1 Quote

elegantlion Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I liked Davinci's Demons, although season 1 was fraught with nudity. Season 2 & 3 was markedly toned down in that aspect, at least imo. Vikings, although there was one episode this season that was very er*tic, again also imo. 2 Quote
KungFuPanda Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Try Cranford. They just kept killing people on that thing. Jk. It's a bbc thing. You get period costumes and death, but no sex or violence. 2 Quote
Sarah CB Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Can you watch later at night and stick it out past season 1? I think season 1 was purposefully shocking. They tend to wear clothes a lot more often in the later seasons. I did not enjoy the unclothed scenes in season 1 and definitely took pains to make sure dc weren't going to walk in. I just checked my fb on my phone or read a page of the book I kept on my lap during the more exciting scenes. Actually, same with the violent scenes. 3 Quote

Matryoshka Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Just binge-watched the first season of Legend of Shannara on Netflix. It's not completely chaste, but not raunchy. I think there were 3 short, not explicit scenes over 10 episodes. There is some gore, but not more than a lot of shows. Nothing like The Walking Dead, for example. That was too much for me. 1 Quote
