I don't normally sell stuff except used curriculum when I no longer need it, but I need to sell 2 books I own but don't know the best place to sell them. They are limited edition signed copies and both are worth about $300-500 each. I thought of eBay first but as with any place I sell I won't have any ratings as a seller. Will that harm my chances? Any ideas on good places to try to sell them?

I suggest listing them on Amazon. That's the "go to" web site for books when I need to buy a book.  I've never purchased on AbeBooks (which is apparently owned by Amazon), but that is probably the next most popular site when people are searching.  IMO, few books are available on eBay.  However, I have purchased 2 textbooks for DD on eBay and saved a lot of money on them.  The thing you might spend some time researching, since these are Limited Edition Books, is whether there is a market for Limited Edition Books on eBay. My gut feeling is that Amazon is your best shot.  GL

ETA:  I would carefully document and explain the condition of the books you have for sale, because of the price you are going to ask. Probably good to take some photos to prove their condition.   Possibly even have them appraised.  Another way for you to sell them might be to have them on Consignment, in a store that specializes in that kind of books, and pay them a Commission, if they sell the books for you.

If you haven't sold any books or other items through an online site, then I would suggest asking an experienced seller to list them for you. Or else do a number of other sales first to get the hang of the site you decide on using. The sites are quite different and it's too easy to make a mistake if you don't understand the ins and outs of how things work  I say this because I didn't do that, and I nearly lost money on my first sale of a pricey item on ebay, and ran into trouble on another early sale of a pricey book when someone tried to scam me.

If you decide to do it on your own, it's very important to have someone who is experienced evaluate the condition of the books for you. New sellers frequently list books at a higher condition than the book actually is, and then run into problems with disgruntled customers and poor ratings right out of the starting gate.

I agree. Consignment would be another good option.

Do you mean online consignment or a local store? And what type of store does this?

If there is a book store near to where you live that sells Limited Edition books, possibly they accept Consignment items.  A store that specializes in that type of Book has the best chance of selling it.  Failing that, I think Amazon would be your best bet.  There is a limited market for Limited Edition books, but many people collect them, so somehow you need to have it available for sale, where potential buyers might look for it.

ETA:

Years ago, I took a piece of equipment for my Amateur Radio station to the local store that sold things to Hams and put it on Consignment there.  A week or so later, I went into the store, looked around, and then asked, "Where is my Linear Amplifier?" They'd sold it, but hadn't had time to notify me of that.  I think they charged me 10% of the selling price.

ETA: I would only sell something on Consignment if I trusted the people completely.   If I didn't know them, or, know someone who knew them well, I would be concerned about their honesty.
