MotherGoose Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Hi, Dd 7 yo was evaluated for a speech issue because I had concerns And she'd had speech in the past. It appears she's normal for age, but did have some problems in verbally describing things. The st suggested that I have her tell me back things (i.e. Narrations) with some pictures to help as cues. So I'm thinking I might draw some basic pictures of a man, a dog, a king, a house, a tree, a child, you know things like that, that she can choose from to help jog her memory for narrations/comprehension questions. She could put them in the order in which the appear in the story. Has anyone done anything like this? Older dd had no trouble with reading comprehension, and her narrations went on forever....this child is not technically behind or struggling, but being able to put things into words is not easy for her. desertflower Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Yes, I've done something like this before. There was one passage (Charles Dickens one) that my ds didn't understand. So, I had him draw as I read. This helped him narrate back to me. Not exactly what you are proposing, but thought I throw it out there. I think it's a good teaching tool. I will use this technique if my other children need it. Quote
