Hi everyone,

I am 25yr old female and have a long history of heath issues since I was 17. My main problem being the chronic bladder pain, constant infections with the intense burning of my insides. I take a lot of painkillers co codomol being the only thing that helps lately which in turn makes me constipated and then I have painful trips to the toilet (excuse me for being graphic). I then also get diorehea on top of that. I have seen numerous drs had lapraoscopys and cystoscopys and was diagnosed with interstital cystitis but not really had any real treatment for it just told id need to live with it. i've had my bladder stretched about 3/4 times but that hasnt helped. I do everything the drs say to prevent them but to no avail.

Mh latest infection reaulted in ESBL (a strain of resistant bacteria) which is now my issue has none of the antibiotics seem to work apart from if im put on a drip on hospital I presume with something stronger.

Sorry for dragging on but wondered if anyone can recomend the best specialist they have seen or any other help??

have EACH of the infections been diagnosed with an actual culture?  or just burning?

oxalates can cause intense  burning (really intense) - if that is what is really going on, your system is too acidic.   I would suggest you reduce your body's acid content by drinking a 4oz glass of tepid water with 1/2 tsp of baking soda at least 1x per day.  My gyn was the first one to recommend that protocol.

eta: and cranberry juice works by preventing bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall.

If it is the oxylate thing, things like green spinach smoothies or other foods high in oxylates that seem healthy can make things much worse.

So does soda, and any source of caffeine really.

This sounds miserable. I've not had infections as bad as you describe, but still I've had many issues with an overactive bladder. The only thing I've found that makes a difference is not consuming any sugar--very hard to do--and drinking water. For me, dehydration coupled with too much sugar=bladder problems. I say problems because many times I thought I had an infection, but the cultures taken show no infection. I do not take baths, but I do swim, and often after swimming if I am not hydrated I get that miserable feeling. If you search on the internet, there is an interstitial cystitis community that may offer more insight.
