SparklyUnicorn
I thought this was so funny and cute. I suppose some homeschoolers might be insulted, but I didn't take it that way at all. I thought he was funny and entertaining! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOlYdX3-ToE

Onceuponatime
We saw that when it came on. At first I groaned, but when I saw that he was going for the laugh, I relaxed. He ended up looking quite clever.
Farrar
My kids told me about this - they're obsessed with AGT. They found him pretty groan-worthy and not in a good way. I get that he was being silly... it was clever, I guess, it just didn't hit for us.
Guest
I'm the first one to use our homeschooling as a gag line so I can appreciate his sense of humor, but it was a little painful to watch :D
Jean in Newcastle
I thought it was funny. What I found interesting was the questions the judges asked before he sang. Quite often the judges ask questions that make it obvious that they know who is doing the act and what the act is about. This one was a prime example of asking questions that helped set up the act.

chocolate-chip chooky
This really tickled my fancy - loved it! Sure, he's poking fun at homeschool stereotypes, but he's out there in the public eye as an example of a confident, successful, well-spoken and talented homeschooled kid. He's debunking the stereotypes he's making fun of. Loved it. Thanks for sharing. Edited July 2, 2016 by chocolate-chip chooky
happi duck
We watch agt as a family. We cracked up and then I said "I wonder if his mom is a member of the hive!?"
kewb
I never watch this show but it came on after the swim trials and dd and I caught the performance. We found it quite giggle worthy. As did ds when I sent him the link. Totally cheesy but in a good way. For certain my ds related to it.
PeacefulChaos
I thought it was funny enough. I wouldn't necessarily say it's technically good enough in any category to actually go anywhere on AGT, but it was ok to watch once. And yes, clearly it was setting him up on the song. ;) Which was entertaining, as well. I don't watch AGT usually. Apparently one of this year's golden ticket contestants is my cousin - our parents are first cousins, so whatever that makes us. I didn't even know I had cousins on that side of the family lol.

Oh they let some lousy ones through so given that he is actually one of the better ones. Probably not in the category of best, but better than several others they let through. They really try to have a wide variety of acts for the final episodes.

She's Link's age - not sure if it's my mom or my grandfather who had kids younger, or a combo of both. :) But she has an older brother and sister, too, who are both late teens/early 20s, so it is probably a bit of a combo, just when in life everyone had kids. :) Also, note the older sister's hair color. This came out online I think the same day I had mine done? So my friends were like, 'Oh, so that hair color runs in the family... or something similar, anyway.  ) Oh they let some lousy ones through so given that he is actually one of the better ones. I'm not saying they should have buzzed him - I did watch a couple seasons of it back in the day. I just don't think he'll go much farther, realistically, and that's ok, too. Hey I walked by a local comedy club and one of the featured comedians is Piff the Magic Dragon.
Mrs. Y
He definitely has charisma. Lol. A lot of comedians do a great and funny job poking fun at themselves. My own children cringe at homeschool stereotypes and tend to shrink back from certain types of people...some of which are the ones who extol the virtues of homeschooling in a corny commercial sort of way. My DC don't mind being homeschooled but they don't want it to be their identity. They would be ones to laugh off the stereotypes with people but they would hope people don't view them as one of those.

I had a hard time hearing the words to the song, though. But Simon thinks she's the next Taylor Swift. Wow! What a compliment. I'll be following her on the show.
