I have to say I already feel better . I even went today...on my birthday.  Yes, I'm sort of fishing for a happy birthday here.  LOL.  No no..not really.  But yes I am already feeling the benefits.  It's hard to motivate myself to go sometimes.  One day I REALLY didn't want to go and DH made me go.  He got almost nasty.  It was just what I needed.  LOL 

 

I'm thinking about making an appointment for a personal trainer.  I haven't done any weight training stuff yet.

And, yes, my experience has been that it isn't always fun, but it's so nice to have done it.  It's really worth it.

I'm cheap so the cost motivates me. Then I feel better and want to keep going.

 

I'm cheap too, but this is only costing $10 a month.  Which is in a way probably not motivating enough.  LOL  But I am literally THAT cheap that I'll be motivated a little by that.

Happy Birthday and way to go! I have a hard time getting motivated to go too, but I started cross fit 7 months ago and really have enjoyed it. I feel so much better afterwards.

Do you mind me asking, are you overweight or just going to the gym for fun. I keep thinking about joining but I'm so overweight I feel like I need to lose some first iykwim?

Happy birthday! Re: the trainer, it would be money well-spent. Many will often do an assessment free to give you an idea of what you need and tosee how you like them.

Happy Belated Birthday!

 

I am with you on trying to get my health back. I have been exercising fairly regularly since the beginning of April since I had a wake up call where I ended up in the ER due to being very short of breath. My extra 85 pounds of weight does not help asthma or my other health issues and I am getting way too old to put if off any more.

 

Personal trainers can be great if you can afford to show you good routines. I really recommend weight training since it helps you feel better quicker than aerobics alone. Sometimes personal trainers have small group classes like the one I am doing now. I do it once a week only since I cannot afford more but it is insurance to get me to the gym once a week. Alternatively, if money is an issue, you can find weight training and aerobic videos on youtube, amazon, hulu, netflix, the library, etc. Great Courses had to sets on exercise.

 

I also found having a video at home to use and some dumbells (sp?) and a step also useful to have at home. Leslie Sansone has great low impact videos ans she is inspiring. I like her Walk Away the Pounds. Step workouts can also be very rigorous. I like Step reebok the Video with Gin Miller. It is tough but you can march in place for intervals when it gets too tough.
