DS14 is starting Notgrass for World History next semester.  In an attempt to save money I bought a used copy of the 2008 version (texts, quizzes and tests, and answer key), but it didn't come with the "In Their Own Words" book.

1.  How helpful/useful was that book for those doing Notgrass?  (It seems like it would be to me, but wanted to ask those who have BTDT.)

2.  Will it work to buy a new copy of "In Their Own Words" to use with the 2008 stuff I have?

TIA.

I have my Notgrass World History right here and the In Your Own Words book has a lot of good info. It's source documents such as speeches, poems, etc that are used with the curriculum. I guess you could find t h else things thru a web search but it's nice to have them all in one book right here accessible.

I can't speak to whether you can use a newer copy with your older texts. I guess that would depend on how much has changed in the text and what's studied. If not much has changed, I would get it.

I've used 2008 edition. and am looking at the sample of 2014 In Their Words.

I think it should be able to work the 2014 version of In Their Words with the 2008 text.  The 2008 text will remind you to go to a certain reading at certain time when it matches time frame in history. When it's the same title, no problem.  If a title is missing, then look in the table of contents to match up the approximate time and read that instead.  Or you can schedule a catch up time if needed.    If for some reason a reading from 2008 is not in 2014 and it shows up on the quiz, then make some allowance on that. The newer edition has additional reading to expand on more cultures.

If you can't find it at price you like on used, check notgrass clearance.
