sheryl Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 We live in NC and grill out "pretty much" year round. Not every day, but often. Our old, cheap grill is leaking now and so I'm thinking now is a good time to replace it with a new one! Grills range in price and obviously the more bells/whistles the more expensive. Can you recommend a mid-priced grill that serves you well with some bells and whistles? Thanks! Quote
Jane in NC Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Gas or charcoal? We have a basic Napoleon gas grill that we love. Quote
ktgrok Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 We got ours at walmart I think...it was a lesser brand name, but works just the same that I can tell. In good news a lot are on sale right now! Quote
SparklyUnicorn Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I love my infrared grill. I think it's a Charbroil (so not a super expensive one). Quote
sheryl Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 right, there are several different kinds (charcoal, propane, natural gas and infrared). Any others, lol! DH said no to charcoal, natural gas and infrared. So, that leaves propane only! Quote

Right, which supposedly adds to the unhealthy aspect of grilling, such as with charcoal (which we used to use). 1 Quote
Guest Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Infrared is generally propane. The basic difference is the top part (or grill part) and not the fuel source. We have a Weber infrared and it's wonderful. They have a decent range of options between the models so you can control the price. I think ours is a Genesis or something. Quote

Prairie~Phlox Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 No help here, we only use charcoal, carcinogens and all. We rarely ever burn stuff though. Quote
Guest Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 We have a Brinkmann propane from Home Depot, which it looks like are all discontinued now. We have had it 3 years and it has worked fine, wondering if the company went under....anywho - my husband will do fancy things with charcoal and wood chips in our propane grill, so it is an option if you guys are a little crafty. :) I like charcoal, but am not patient enough for it. sheryl Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Ahh, yes, we like using charcoal. Wood chips or chunks would deliver a wonderful enhanced flavor but we're getting away from charcoal. Will look into infrared. 1 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 depends - do you want to be able to smoke? (stay away from a gas grill.) we have a weber dh loves - but if I had the money, I'd go for a primo. (costco has one.) he bought an actual smoker -char griller. (I think that is the actual name.) you can grill and smoke on it. if it's just as an easy/gas outdoor cooking surface, can't help you.
