teachermom2834 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Ds is at orientation today with dh. He had done dual enrollment at a local university but it was primarily to fulfill high school requirements and we figured if they transferred toward a 4 year degree somewhere it would just be a bonus. Ds was told he would get a transfer credit evaluation at orientation. From what I could figure out looking at the website I hoped that one or two classes would count toward his degree. Turns out that they awarded him 31 hours!!! He has 31 hours applied toward his degree already. Woo hoo!! Great surprise! I am sure I could have figured this out before but I misunderstood how it worked. Then, he was all set to register when he met with his advisor for final approval for his schedule and he was told not to take the math class. The calculus requirement for his major is being dropped and he won't need it. Oh happy day! Not a math kid. He was ready to dig in and do what it took to survive it while taking easier classes but so nice not to need it. He was even going to need to take intro to functions as a prereq to the calculus so he is avoiding two math classes he was dreading. That is probably happier news to him than the 31 transferred credit hours. He also texted me that the school fight song is terrific. 27 Quote

teachermom2834 Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Score! :hurray: Have him give some consideration to picking up a minor... Yes! I suspect getting all his required courses to line up perfectly to actually graduate early would be difficult but he is definitely looking into a minor or double major or whatever else he could do with this room in his schedule. But he did earn himself some freedom and flexibility. Quote
JeanM Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 What a nice surprise! I'm sure having the added flexibility in his schedule will be a plus. 1 Quote
Sunshine State Sue Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Ds's CC credits also allow him to register earlier than his peers each semester because he is classified a year later (ie. sophomore instead of freshman, etc). 2 Quote
